After interviewing Ms. Jordan, the fourth-grade teacher and Mr. Chilton, I concluded that Jefferson Elementary School is a Partnership School. I came to this conclusion based off many factors.
I rated Jefferson in five areas of partnership: building relationships, linking to learning, addressing difference, supporting advocacy, and sharing the power. The only area not in the partnership category was Supporting advocacy, which I will address last. Building a relationship among the parents and the school of Jefferson is amazing. Jefferson is a very small school and as Mr. Chilton stated, “Our school is so small that we are able to be very familiar with our families. The staff know most of the kids personally from kindergarten through 4th grade. The school has “Meet the Teacher Night” to help build the relationship between the teacher and parents. Jefferson key for learning doesn’t just stop at the student, but reaches to the parents for their partnership. An example of family learning is the annual reading night at the local fire house. This event promotes the students and parents to read together, which is a key element to learning. The students also are given grade papers with the scoring guide back every week. The curriculum for the school address differences among the community, which is the third category. Ms. Jordan

Ms. Jordan shared during one PTA meeting their have a program called “youth author” where they support the students to write. Jefferson school also shares the power among the neighborhood of Collinsville by participating in events during the year for the community. One event happens last week for Jefferson. Ms. Jordan was very excited to tell how they raise money for an organization called Kellsie’s Hope! This organization raises money for wishes and grants for children with cancer. Kellsie was a student in the Collinsville school district that died of
