In the poem “Cinderella” by Ann sexton, she is making fun of the phrase “happy ever after” because most people use this phrase to put icing on a cake (make stories better) and ignore an essential elements in life that is conflict (Plot). In which illustrates an individual challenges, goals and limitations to overcome or achieve those obstacles in a lifetime. Sexton illustrates that most people ignore or misplace struggles to feature that dream life of most fairy tales known in mass media. Therefore, the most important element in life are the everyday struggles that make humans grow and explore life to their best of their abilities. In hope of creating this prefect life that most people chase like mathematician trying to find the infinite number.
