Cinderella’s Evil Stepmother Cinderella's step mother is mean because she cares about her own daughter more than Cinderella, she makes Cinderella do all the chores in the house, and she doesn't let Cinderella be happy. Her Stepmother makes Cinderella do all of the chores, even the chores her stepsisters are meant to do. Lady Tremaine (Cinderella’s stepmother) takes pride of her own daughter but not Cinderella. Lady Tremaine keeps Cinderella from being happy by not granting her permission to the ball. With these facts, you can now begin to see why Lady Tremaine cares more about her own daughters then Cinderella. She cares about her own daughters more than her step daughter. Lady Tremaine doesn’t let her daughters come across any hardships. She piles all the chores and other jobs on Cinderella. When going out somewhere, she doesn’t bother to invite Cinderella along. When the prince came to see if one of Lady Tremaine’s daughters fit the glass shoe, she tried to hide Cinderella from his visit because she didn’t want Cinderella to be his princess. By understanding how Lady Tremaine treats her own daughters and how she treats Cinderella, you can understand why Cinderella is forced to do all the chores. When news about the ball finally reached Cinderella she asked her stepmother for a day off of housework and permission to go to the ball but, Lady Tremaine gave her a new list of chores and told Cinderella she could go only if she finished all of them before. Lady Tremaine thought that Cinderella would never finish the chores in time for the ball. Cinderella did end up finishing the chores and had began making her own dress for the ball, when her stepsisters found out she was done with the chores, they ripped her dress up so she couldn’t go.
