Among the Forgotten Overpopulation strikes but the government has an option to solve this, families are only allowed two children and if they breed anymore they are to be killed immediately once they are found out. In the book Among the Hidden the author, Margaret Peterson HADDIX, relates this world to ours starting with China. China’s one child policy, 36% of the population was allowed to have only one child, 53% are able to have a second child if their first child is a female. The government are allowed to do inspections if they’re suspicious of a family having more or if the child has a disability. The ones that are caught will be fines and have that child/children killed. Just imagine a family that has more than that and are forced to watch their child killed right in front of them. As said before this relates to the China situation that recently ended a few years ago. They wanted their child to be a male so they can continue their family, this relates to the royalty to where the next heir to the throne is a man.
