Oviposition Of Callosobruchus Maculatus Lab Report

159 Words1 Pages
The purpose of the present experiment was to assess the oviposition of Callosobruchus maculatus by manipulating the size of the Lima bean in context of the oviposition and fertilization success. By placing the same amount of Callosobruchus maculatus and lima beans of varying sizes in petri dish, it allowed the beetles to choose and oviposit their eggs over a two-week span. The small lima beans were separated from the large lima beans into equal amounts contained in two petri dishes with the same number and ratio of male to female Callosobruchus maculatus. Based on the results from the t-test (t[38]= 3.0955) there is a statistical significance between the size of the lima beans and the oviposition/fertilization success rate. Based on these findings
