4.1.The study population
This study reports the results of a Pap smear test among 677 women attending for cervical cancer screening center in Barah. Such study requires precise definition of the target population, i.e., the population to which the main result of the study will be explored. Next, suitable source of population should be identified, from which a large representative sample must be selected. (73) In the present study, the target population is married women eligible for screening program in Basrah. The entire source for this population was all women attending this center over the last three years.
All smears were examined in one laboratory used routinely by the center for the screening program, and all were examined by an experienced cytopathologist.

Conclusions: The following conclusions were obtained from the results of the current study:
 The prevalence of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia among women investigated by pap smear test was relatively high.
 The prevalence of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia increased with increase in women’s age.
 Passive smoking were significantly associated with Pap smear results.
 Long duration of marriage and parity also associated with pap smear results. Age at first marriage and at first pregnancy , number of husband’s wives, and low education did not show any significant association with the results.
5.2. Recommendations: Based on the findings of this study, the following recommendations are suggested:
1. The Pap smear test should be done for screening married women who are asymptomatic to detect pre invasive stage of cervical cancer.
2. Education program should be implemented for women to be aware about risk factor of cervical cancer and about the importance of early screening for cervical cancer.
3. Involvement of more centers in cervical cancer screening program is recommended to cover a wider area in
