In discussing the evolving role of the principal with my assistant principal Kelly Romasco, I learned that data is one of the most important tools that the administration can use. After analyzing the California State Board of Education Policy and the sample plan, I retained great information that will help me become a better educator. Children go through many problems throughout life and many of those problems occur in school. This policy on school safety gives students the opportunity to seek options on so that they have a positive safe learning environment. Some of the few factors that I believe make the policy so effective is the school suspension, expulsion, and mandatory expulsion guidelines and also the sexual harassment policies. Within the school environment the ethos of the school should be noticed upon entering and the daily performance of the staff and pupils who attend and work for the school. All the staff that work in the environment have an important responsibly when it comes to children as children and young people are influenced by the behaviour they see from their role models, which can be teachers, family members and friends and teaching assistants such as myself. They are influenced by not just my behaviour but every adult within the setting, so everyone needs to make sure that they are not displaying negative behaviour or displaying a negative way of dealing with certain people or incidents involving others, otherwise this could affect other younger children
Propriety and behaviour- While working with pupils it is essential for staff member to behave in an appropriate and professional manner at all times we it is their responsibility to set a good example for the pupil of the school. Teachers and their assistants are often seen as role models therefore it is an important part of the job to set a respectful and friendly example to which their pupils will intern mirror. In this class I have learned many new things about education and becoming an educator. I learned how an educator is supposed to present themselves and the correct way to be professional. I learned this by looking at the Alabama Code of Ethics and the Dispositions. The teacher should be aware of his/her individual values, personal experience, commitment to authenticity, decision-making processes and work towards providing sound judgement. There is a school of thought which says that judgement grows with time and implies knowledge and wisdom, that teachers’ judgment improves with time. However, it is essential to ensure that all teachers possess a significant level of professional judgment.
Throughout my training, I implemented various strategies for engaging students in small groups and rigorous lessons. My role as a teacher is to communicate effectively, be respectful, and have self-worth and confidence. I did fear making wrong choices throughout this field experience. I set high expectations the students to achieve high goals. Teaching to me opened doors to many students’ lives.
