Have you ever heard of the goddess known as Persephone? She is a Greek mythology figure. She was seen as the Goddess of Spring, representing rebirth, death, and the cycle of life as a whole. Persephone was an intriguing Greek goddess because of what she represents, her life experiences, and how she became the reason for mythological spring. Even though Persephone wasn’t the actual goddess of love, Demeter’s love for her was so endearing that Persephone is the reason the seasons were thought of in mythology. In Persephone's story she portrays and represents a lot of things, the first being, her willingness to stay with Hades. Persephone didn't want to leave when Hermes came to get her. This was due to the fact she actually fell in love with Hades. "It was a narcissus, the exact flower her father hoped that she would find. As she reached down to pluck it from its resting place, her feet began to tremble and the earth was split in two" (Strong 1). This part of the story represents when life makes you feel like you'll never get back up again. She gets taken to the dark underworld by Hades, but then she finds her way back. It's like she goes through tough times, but comes out stronger and ready to make things better again. Persephone's journey is what makes spring happen in Greek mythology. "Hades, the god of the Underworld, saw Persephone one day while she was picking narcissus flowers in one of her mother’s fields" (McCall 1). This sentence describes the beginning of Persephone's journey. Then the story’s compelled, and Hades takes her. When she's with Hades in the underworld, everything gets sad and dead. When she comes back to her mom, Demeter, the world starts to bloom again. It's like she brings back hope and happiness with her, showing that even in the darkest times, there's always a chance for things to get
