Personal Essay: My Clinical Experience

Everyone is unique in their own way. Things like our laughs, personalities, styles, opinions, etc, are all things that make us special and different. One thing that I feel though makes me unique and stand out from the rest is my dedication and experiences. Ever since I was young I always had a knack and passion for investigation. I was always that kid that was constantly asking why or how and If I couldn’t understand something, I would not rest until I figured it out. Whether it was following closely along a murder mystery helping solve the case through the television screen or learning about something new in class and going home that night and researching it so I had an abundance of knowledge on the subject for the next day. I gained so much knowledge by observing and participating in so many different experiments, attending lab meetings where I was able to learn about upcoming and new treatments, and by using and properly learning about the techniques and equipment used in a lab. I learned through this experience that I am dedicated and passionate about medicine and research and I already have experience and insight on what it takes to work in a real lab. I like to pride myself on having this dedication because instead of waiting for opportunities to present themselves to me in the future, I want to gain as much experience and knowledge as I can know and go after whatever will help me succeed and make me the best researcher I can be. Also, if I get the chance, I believe continuing my learning and passion at the University of Pittsburgh would help me tremendously because I would be able to intern at the twelfth hospital in the nation, UPMC, and receive a fitting and accomplished education from the biology
