Throughout life, everyone will come to face obstacles or challenges that they will have to face. Some obstacles can be small like passing a class or learning how to tie your shoes, and some obstacles can be big like facing your fears or going through your parents’ divorce. I’ve faced many conflicts or obstacles in my life, most being fairly small, but there were some obstacles that might seem small to others, but felt very big to me. One of my biggest obstacles that I have had to face was running for district officer for Longview District FFA. Sure, to some, running for district doesn’t seem like a very big obstacle. I mean it’s not like I was running for state or national, but to me, it sure felt like it. There are three parts to running for district office: a test, an interview, and finally the dreaded speech in front of the whole Longview District where the voting delegates then vote for their next district officers based on how well they spoke. The interview process was a little nerve racking but it seemed possible. I mean after all, all I had to do was talk to three people about myself and explain why I would be good in office and why I wanted to run for district officer. I entered the interview room and sat in one chair right across from the three judges. The judges asked me to tell them about myself and then proceeded to ask me questions like why I wanted to become a district officer, what I would do as a district officer, and how I would handle different situations. I calmly answered all of my questions and the judges reacted to my answers very well. I left the interview room with great pride because I felt like I had nailed that process of running for office. To me, none of that was a big deal or a big obstacle that I had to face, but that was a whole different story when it came to the public speaking
