Washington, D.C has been one of the most influential metropolises in the world. It is home to centuries of history, our government, culture, and just everyday people. I originally, however, thought it only to be home to the government, lobbyist, and tourists. Through my experiences while enrolled in TWC I found it to be much more than that stereotype. I found it a venter hub of many personalities, upbringings, and ideologies that have help me grown in the work force and personally. Before this experience I was shy and the idea of working on Capitol Hill was extremely daunting. By simply networking more and more I swiftly overcame those challenges and the fear of going outside my comfort zone. Networking is the main goal of TWC and it was confirmed with my informational interviews with Chief of Staffs. Overall my career layout is the same but now I am more confident about how to go about this. TWC has helped me with solidifying my career and patched the pieces together. The importance of networking is one of the main reasons I can see my career working. This was highlighted very well in all of TWC events, classes, and seminars. This repeated message helped me understand its importance and now, at the end of only 3 months I have made strong connections with government officials and staff, something I would previously only dream of. TWC has influenced me to continue networking. One may never know when someone has connections to help you with your career or at the very least know someone they can pass you off too. People are very willing to help you succeed. They know that they can come to you for the same reasons you came to them. This idea was strongly confirmed with one of my informational interviews who said the same thing.
