The hot, humid, winter air flowed through my nostrils. The sweet smell and feel of Louisiana weather overwhelmed me as I stepped out of our big suburban. I let the heat swarm over me and just wondered how the weather could be so nice in mid-December. My family and I had taken a car trip down to Louisiana for Christmas and I was already loving everything about it. We had come to a huge family reunion party right before Christmas Eve and I barely knew ¼ of the people there. Everything looked right, and this was turning out to be a better time than I would have thought. I kicked the soccer ball, threw the football, and caught both. I was having so much fun. I took a break and saw my brother and some relatives playing a game with my uncle where my uncle kicked up a regular sized soccer ball and all my cousins would scramble to get it, usually pushing and knocking down others in the process. I went over to see if I could join. After a few tries, I was getting good at it. I was taller than most of them because I was older, so I was getting most of the balls. As I was getting prepared to catch another one, my brother challenged me to see who would get it. “Reed, why are you making a bet you know your going to lose?” I snickered. “Here,” he started, “Whoever gets possession of the ball first gets the bed,” he proclaimed. "Looks like I'm going to get a good sleep tonight!" I teased my brother. He looked pretty mad about that, and got ready to catch it. BOOM!
