Throughout my education, writing strategies persisted to be a challenge for me. I dreaded writing because I could never find ways to transition my thoughts from my mind to the paper. Ironically, a class that petrified me due to the amount of required writing ended up helping me in numerous ways. English 1301 and my professor prepared me for college and real life by giving me a foundation of effective learning strategies.
In my writing at first I with many part of sentence structure and grammar. Trying to not mess up in structure I was unable convey my ideas. Over the course of the semester it has became easier by every essay. My improvement was some not severely, but learning the basic again will help me for all class and other English courses. Writing again was something I slowly was becoming accustomed again as before.
reflecting on my progress thus far in this course, I have not only become cognizant of my writing skills and habits, but improvements I need to make to become a better writer. Although writing has never been one of my strong suits, I have learned valuable writing skills and strategies that are applicable to both the professional and academic field. Transitioning from the way I have been taught to write as a high school student has been the most challenging and influential change I have witnessed in my writing. To elaborate, in high school, we were taught the basis for writing any essay regardless of the audience or topic was the rigid five-paragraph essay structure.
I am now able to see the areas in which I lack in but I also recognize my strengths as well. To become a precise writer, you have to take the initiatives that will help you do so. These initiatives consist of working on different academic genres, planning and organizing material, identifying purpose and audience and for revising intentionally. It is also includes reading different types of texts and learning how to understand a writer’s argument and respond to the ideas of others.
Before entering this class I thought I was a well written writer, although as I continued to come to class and work on assignments I then had realized I could use alittle improving. Writing seems to come very naturally for me because I write all the time. I tend to write poetry to express what i 'm feeling at times, it is how I ventilate what it is that I am feeling. So when thinking about topics it is not very difficult for me due to the fact that most of the time I know exactly what it is I would like to write about. Taking this class has showed me how to be a more effective writer and a more effective researcher.
Since I started my classes at the Montgomery College, I Have been improved my writing skills even though I would able to continue to learn the writing process well. Before I came to school, I couldn’t even write any thing. I started from American English Writing 1, but it was so hard for me to write well for many reasons. For example, I had trouble with grammar, to write organize, and to make my paragraph attractive. After a long grueling process, I have improved my writing Process.
All throughout my high school years I had a lot of trouble writing essays. I would constantly ask my teachers for help but I personally believe that I didn’t receive the adequate help to become a better writer. At the end of my senior year is when I encountered one of the most challenging writing assignments.
I took a journalism class for two years in high school and my teacher was a journalist herself, so at times I feel as if I have a good handle on writing. However, sometimes I do not know what to write or how to write it and I am always nervous that my writing will come off as amateurish. When I get that feeling, I become insecure about everything I put on paper. I hope to one day get over that fear or insecurity and be able to just write what comes to

As a college student, I found that some of his strategies would help me develop into a better writer. In “How Good Writing Gets Written,” Keith Hjortshoj mentions several methods and strategies that will refine my writing process. One of the strategies that I found helpful is that of thinking about a writing assignment and how to approach it in my leisure time.
While in Composition I my writing skills have dramatically increased. I learned the importance of the writing process and identified several of my strengths and weaknesses. Pointing out my weaknesses and fixing them allowed me to become a better writer for future English classes. A strength that was showcased throughout many of my papers is my tone of voice.
In the words of Margaret Atwood, “If I waited for perfection… I would never write a word.” As a writer, particularly one in an academic type setting, there are certain expectations professors have for their students; thoughtful responses, cohesive arguments, superb vocabulary, and proper citations. These aspects are deemed “perfection”, as they are the qualities that will most likely earn the student an A. However, “perfection” is rarely, if ever achieved. For me, I began this semester far from perfection. I always considered myself a fairly strong writer.
Prior to the beginning of this college level class, I perceived myself as an average to lower level writer. I was mildly frightened by the amount of essays I heard we were expected to write. I always had a knack for last minute papers, but I knew that this strategy wouldn’t cut it for these expectations. I am now equipped with the ability to turn an average paper into a marvelous piece. Composition has improved my writing dramatically in all five categories over the span of the semester.
Without the important development of writing, our society would have no literature, music, movies, theater, or written history. Writing is an extremely important skill. One’s ability to write develops through time and it is a common debate between scholars and students as to whether there is a difference between college and high school-level writing.

Writing essays and other types of posts has always been difficult for me. But, throughout this composition class, I have learned many interesting and new things about the different types of writing styles. When starting this class, I considered myself to be an average writer with run-of-the-mill vocabulary, ordinary sentence structure and typical finished products. This class has helped me greatly improve my writing skills in a variety of ways. I have learned multiple things by taking this class, such as new ways to approach writing and that there is much that I still need to learn about composition.
