It happened on a Thursday morning on April 30th. I remembered how I woke up that morning earlier than usual so I could curl my thick hair and spend extra time on my makeup. I remembered that I spent ten minutes picking out the perfect dress for today. I remembered being excited because that was the day that Jason would ask me to prom. I remembered all of that because that was the day I died. When I left my house, I went to pick up my best friend, Brittany. She was late as usual, but nothing could ruin my mood. This added extra minutes to my walk, but it was better than being with her. I was halfway around the other side of school when I heard Jason’s voice. “Chase I told you I needed that Chemisty lab due by today! What am I supposed to do now?” I turned the corner to see Jason and a group of his friends surrounding Chase McKnight in the stairwell. To enter the stairwell, one had to go through these two thick doors. There were glass openings on the doors so I saw all of them from where I stood. The stairwells were still under construction. So, the lights were dim and would often flicker on and off with a rapid speed. Chase was not the smallest teenager around, but he also was not the largest either. He was around 5’7 and very scrawny.
