there was no obvious reason why it was even arising in the first place. I turned the golden-painted knob on the bedroom door and cracked it open. From what I could see, it looked like no one was in the room, until I noticed something odd on the bed. There was a large bulge in the otherwise neatly laid-out sheets as if something were underneath it. I eased into the room, my fingers lingering on the door frame before I finally obtained to courage to let go. As I moved closer to the bed, I noticed dark, splotchy stains on the covers and that the protuberance was looking a little more human shaped. I stood over it, my mind racing with worries as I reached to pull the cover off. As soon as I felt the soft texture of the fabric, I quickly grabbed it and pulled. Grabbing her by the shoulder, he pushed her fully onto the floor and straddled over her. Noel struggled, trying to shove him off, but to no avail. He help her face still with his free hand and looked her in the eyes. His nose began to bleed. Blood fell from his face and onto Noel’s already blood-soken blouse. She started screaming and flailing, her plea a hoarse, raspy cry. The boy looked surprised, then angry. He smacked Noel across the face, but then instantly seemed regretful. “Sorry…” He whispered, his voice trailing off. Noel screamed again, only this time, the boy pulled down on her bottom jaw, revealing the inside of her mouth. He grabbed her tongue and, with the knife, cut it clean off. Blood over-filled her mouth, causing her to gag, and leaked all across the boy's callused hand and her face. The tongue dangled limply from his hand before tossed it aside. He pulled her shirt down slightly, allowing the cut I had noticed previously to be fully seen. It was much deeper than I had originally thought. It seemed only a inch away from cutting into her
