Lowrey achieves greater efficacy in delivering her point when she mentions the financial aid award letters. “Non-standardized financial aid award letters might be the biggest problem.... But comparison shopping is difficult when you're weighing apples and oranges.” The colleges turn a simple process into a challenging task by preparing award letters that are vague, deceptive and labyrinthine. All colleges strive to offer some basic information to students, which includes cost of the year in college, financial aid the school provides, costs contributed by a student and the prospective gaps fulfilled through other sources.
Hello again, I am so sorry I’ve emailed you so many times but I would really really like to meet one on one with Gerardo. My initial meeting that was scheduled for February 14th, I had to cancel due to being very sick and not wanting to spread it to him or his family. Are there any open slots? God bless, Rachal Adent
Mock trial has been a journey for me, marking both my experiences and my growth, as well as helping me choose a path for myself. Becoming an accomplished public speaker allows me to feel confident in my ability to succeed, and in my ability to advocate for myself. Mock trial allowed me to push my boundaries and to strive for something that required significant effort, for the first time letting me experience both success and failure in a higher stakes environment outside of academics. I joined mock trial in my sophomore year. The first year created a sense of community and family, and also helped me become more extroverted.
I decided to apply to Loyola because I believe that it will offer me the best education, athletics, and overall high school experience. My father and uncles attended Loyola, and all four received excellent educations while making life long friends. Through attending summer school, football games, and open houses, I am confident that Loyola is the best fit for me.
When I started high school, the club that excited me the most, was National Honors Society. So, at the first chance I got, in my sophomore year. After being a member for a year, I quickly realized that I wanted to take on a leadership opportunity in the club. So, I took a shot for the stars, and campaigned for being president of Honors Society. Though I had some competition, I put my all into composing a speech, and I won the presidency, and I have been president since.
When I was an underclassman the definitions of clubs seemed to blur into an indistinguishable mass. Yet, I eventually realized that Key Club stood out because of its member’s desire to serve. For me, Key Club has become staying up late and drafting an email again and again, or spending hours organizing a program, and always getting to serve a school that has done so much for me. Despite its hardships, I have loved being the K2K East board member this year! Key Club has given me fantastic opportunities to serve my school and my community.
Discuss why cyberstalking may be more commonplace than physical stalking. Which form of stalking should society fear most and why? As the world get more and more engrossed with technology and social media cyberstalking is on the rise. People, mostly teens and young adults, have gotten so comfortable with having on online presence that they see little to no problem with sharing personal information such as photos, means of contact, and even their full names and phone numbers.
My body cried like a newborn babe, afraid in an unfamiliar place. Immediately, my fresh eyes were greeted by waves of black hair, friendly smiles, and the Japanese language. I had arrived in Japan. I did not know the language or the customs, but I dove right into the dark pool. I was determined not to let the unknown drown me.
“I can’t go,” was a regular statement I used with my peers during my childhood. “Children should be seen and not hear,” was the constant response my parents gave me when I would push back. Having older parents is both a blessing and a challenge. They provided me with a foundation so comforting and soft, it would feel like jumping into a beautiful pool that’s already at perfect body temperature. I was always able to bounce back from life’s bumps, bruises, and beat downs.
I am twenty-one years old with a book obsession that would put even the most passionate of librarians into shock. I have a passion for the arts and literature and enjoy creating colorful pieces of art for my home for others to admire and enjoy. My interests are quite varied and range from enjoying foreign movies to attempting to cook new recipes. As a young child I have always felt a passion for fiction writing that compelled me to write. While most children played outside I would lock myself in the room and type hundreds of pages pulled from my thirteen year old imagination.
Officer Dan was his name and as his shadow began to make, it’s way down the hallway. I began feeling as if I was about to get the biggest shock of my life. Up until this point, I had never been so scared in my entire life, not knowing what to expect and not having full control of any situation can be very scary. Until this very moment, I hadn’t had time to even think about the endless possibility of if I had killed or seriously injured anyone. Honestly I was just happy that my own life was spared, again I can admit I was a self-centered bastard.
I had just walked in the door from playing in the enormous yard behind our house, when I suddenly see my mother and father hunched over, whispering. I had accidently gotten dirt all over me, and didn’t want mother to see. I could tell they weren’t discussing something happy, because my mother had worry lines plastered on her forehead. But the telltale sign that something was terribly wrong was that my father’s eyes were as dull as murky water.
One of the greatest moments in my teenage life is getting my driver’s permit at the age of fifteen. On February 7, 2017, I went to the Department of Motor Vehicle to try for my driver’s permit in Hampton, South Carolina with my grandma. I always thought once I get my driver’s permit I would have freedom, but my freedom became exciting to disappointing. First, my grandma signed papers and give my personal information to the employee for registration.
I look down at the envelope, slide my index finger under the flap, and look back up at all of the eager faces looking at me. I lose my nerve and stammer, “I’m…I’m scared I’m going to cry if I didn’t make it.” My teacher belts out a laugh and makes a deal with me that if I open it and don’t make it into this prestigious organization she would allow me to stay in her room until I can gather my composure. Although I’m still trembling, I decide the deal is fair and open the envelope for real this time. The first word I read is “congratulations” and I can finally feel my legs again.
Next day they drove from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, that 90minutes drive his dad wasn’t still sure but was expectant at the same time. After meeting the admission officer his father Mr. Jeffery was optimistic and happy now. Daniyal mentioned that he filed an application form and was given “Induction Day”. I promptly asked “What’s Induction Day?” to which he answered that on Induction day; students are invited to get details about the university itself and the major they chose. “Students get a bag with USB, brochures and Induction Book which has your student ID on, though its time consuming but it’s worth the time” – He added.
