Have you ever been in a nursing home or in an environment where there were senior citizens? If so, have you ever wondered about their journeys and experiences? Well, I’ve most certainly have, creating this biography gave me an opportunity to have an insight, on how someone once lived their life and the obstacles they’ve overcome, to be who they are today. I was blessed with the pleasure of interviewing my Great-Uncle by the name of Gary Belizaire, who is a retired Veteran. This assignment couldn’t have been given at a better time. I was impressed by the strength, discipline, and self-efficacy Gary Belizaire represented throughout his life. I was able to acquire some of the skills of being financially stable for the long run, and how prayer and family support can get me through the impossible. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. I notice the older you become, the more stubborn one tend to be. I’ll empathize more with an elderly; having more patience towards them. Sometimes it takes time for an elderly to adjust to the changes surrounding them. I personally appreciate this assignment, I found out some new and interesting facts about my Great-Uncle. If I never conducted this interview I may have never knew certain information. One MAJOR concern I observed during the interview is the frequent pauses throughout the discussion. He stated that Alzheimer’s is something very common in his age group. With age, some elderly slowly start to forget their memory. That’s huge topic and concern in the elderly community.
