I think I’ll start this essay with a question. An academic cliche sure, but by this point in my essay it’s at least not my first sentence. The question in question is about how I ended up at Evergreen, and the answer being that I'm not very sure myself. My best guess is that as a person, I am drawn to the different, which is a role that Evergreen certainly fits. In any case a more complete answer could probably be found in my academic past.
So to start, I should state that Evergreen is not the first school I have attended that was “different.” From kindergarten to eighth grade I attended Maplewood Co-op, a kind of charter school, only less terrible. Not a bad change, but certainly a busy one, though not at first. Much of this came with Drama club, a thing I had had interest in but very little actual experience. This would take over much of my time after school, though much of my time in the program was spent behind curtains or working the house. I was a great student through high school too, taking all honors and AP classes. I was still a great reader and found I had a fantastic memory. This memory was a boon in classes such as History which i excelled at. My writing skills (which you can judge for yourself in this essay) fluctuated from mediocre to good enough to get a four on the AP Language and Composition test my junior year. Senior year was definitely the hardest year of high school, drama club took up much of my time after school and sickness left me out of commission for a week at very inconvenient times, twice. My math and English grades probably suffered the most because of this. While I was relatively speaking, good at math, It was time consuming and Calculus has never been easy. That said, it most certainly been worse, due to scheduling I couldn’t take my preferred science class and to be honest, that might have put me over the edge. But I coped and am now at
