We start out in Wonder learning about August, our protagonist. We learn about august and his facial features which set him apart from other kids in the first place, so going to a school wasn’t exactly gonna make things very much better for him. Although, his parents at least want him to try to go to the school.
I thought that it was smart how we had to find our reading pace for each book. It is different from Elementary School and Middle School. I liked how you had us write reflections of the books, instead of just writing the page numbers. This helps me comprehend the book better because I have to go back and re-read parts of the book that I didn't get in order to finish the writing. I read many books this year, but my favorite was Ender's Game.
Directly after robotics club and procrastination, my favorite pastime is reading. Starting in elementary school I would pick up a book that intrigued me and read it through without ever setting it down. My reading habits got worse(or better depending on how you look at it) once my parents bought me a Kindle and gave me the means to purchase a book whenever I wanted to. Ultimately, my kindle led to some problems at school because I stopped paying attention in class in order to read.
No matter what emotion I might be feeling one day, I can always count on flipping to a chapter in this autobiography to relate to. There is such a wide variety of emotions produced in this book, so it really has something for everyone. Plus, this book doesn’t have to be read in order. You can flip to the table of contents, and start any chapter you’d like without feeling as if you are missing information. This element is what really sets apart Seriously...
He finally made a decision that he was going to go to school at Beecher Prep for his fifth grade year. As the school year goes on a lot of different positive and negative things happen to August. However, during these actions, Auggie learns a lot of new things about himself and other people. I believe that when August made the choice of going to school at Beecher Prep was a very wise choice and made a positive impact on his life.

Hello, all. I am Pallas Athena, goddess of health, weaving, healing, learning, pottery, wisdom, crafts, female crafts, judicial wisdom, arts, education, battle strategy, and war (Bulfinch 878; “Orestes”; “Minerva”). Now, I know that is a large domain, but do not worry, I can handle it [unlike others -cough cough- Aphrodite -cough cough-]. Mortals recognize me as the wisest war deity [connect to Ares].
Auggie did not make friends easily there, the school was an emotional roller coaster for him. Sometimes people would pretend to be his friend just so they could get close to him and then they would make fun of him. Auggie started to hate everybody and hate life, but he did not give up. He wanted to prove all of the bullies wrong. Auggie wanted to show them that he was not worthless.
Other people stereotype me by saying I am “basic” I’m not really sure what that meant so I asked around and I got the answers to my questions. A “basic white girl” is someone who wears leggings, fake tans, ½ zip from pink, wears earrings, wears makeup, wears fake eyelashes, wears lipstick, wears uggs, and doesn’t follow sports, nor knows what a “sport” is. When I got told I was a basic white girl at first I did not think anything of it until I asked around and found out what the basic white girl is. After I found out I felt confused I wasn’t sure how to react to that but then I started thinking to myself and asked myself why people thought that
It happened on June 11, 2015. My lacrosse team won our regional quarter final game the previous day—I scored my personal best of five goals and was named Player of the Game. As a reward for the win, my coach gave us a three hour practice the next day that was strictly conditioning—leaving the seniors 30 minutes to go home, shower, change, and drive to our Senior Dinner at Bowdoin College. I raced home from practice, my sweat sticking to the car leather seats, music blasting, and the wind in my hair. I had the future on my mind: playoffs, graduation, summer, and college.
One day at school, Auggie overhears Jack and Julian saying mean things about Auggie. Auggie went home saying he was “sick” and decides that he’s done with school. Then Auggie’s sister talks him into going back to school. Auggie forgives Jack when Jack apologizes. On the other hand, Auggie’s school experience has some negative things.
Deer in Headlights Thesis: My first time hunting was a most memorable one also my last time going. What started out as a great father and son bonding trip had turned for the worst, which involved us not even getting to kill anything. I. Most people start hunting at young ages in life or just coming along with there dad and uncles to experience.
In this scene, we also get a close up of him walking through the hallways. In this scene, he has a sad expression on his face as kids stare and avoid being near him. This again shows us he need the encouragement from himself to work through school. Auggie starts to accept his looks when the girl and others start to sit and be friends with him. Auggie stopped hiding from others and is exposed to everyone in the school.
School has helped auggie experience what he has always wanted to experience, to fit in. At school Auggie is seen as any other student not just the kid with the birth
At this time of year, I begin to look back at my life after 12 hard years of schooling.
