A successful school will have effective leadership. It is essential for the culture of the campus that a principal has an educational philosophy and leadership style that engulfs the vision of the school. My goal shortly is to become an administrator, so it is paramount that I have a philosophy and style that is clear for everyone to understand. There are others that have written books or have had their articles published in educational journals that share my philosophy and style. The theory or approach that I follow is the human relations approach and it the one that best identifies me, and the leadership style I will display with my staff. I want a positive learning environment and a culture that students of all backgrounds can achieve and be successful. Furthermore, a staff that works under a principal that practices the leadership theory or practice will develop loyalty to the school’s goals. Terzi & Derin (2016) suggest that the benefits of democratic leadership build knowledge and experience in the decision-making process, creates loyalty, and ensures communication. For growth and development to take place, there must be sufficient communication. The literature shows that democratic leadership gives educators equality, freedom, emotional intelligence, human relations, and cooperation (Terzi &Derin, 2016). These critical qualities that come from democratic leadership are the reason why this approach is the most effective. The literature backs what I believe and that is the success or failure of an organization depends on the
