Leader Assessment Results

According to the University of Kent Leadership Styles Test my results are as follows: Authoritarian 30, Procedural 32, Transformational 34, Participative 40, Laissez-faire 30. Participative leadership is what the highest results showed my leadership style to be. I am not surprised by the results since I am a people person and I prefer teamwork over working alone. I also am the type to put a lot of detail into a project instead of getting it done quickly. I do not like to hover over people while they are working. I put a great deal of trust in others to get the job done. I believe engaging others is a great way to make them feel appreciated. Principals with this type of leadership style are able to involve educators in their schools to provide the best education for their scholars. Teachers work directly with these students so they have knowledge of what the needs are being a principal rarely sees the pupils. As the head of the school they can also recognize teachers achievements and award as necessary. Distributed leadership is like the participative characteristic since they have similar attributes. The present study conceptualizes distributed leadership as the degree to which leadership functions are distributed among formal leadership positions in the leadership team (i.e., the principal, assistant principal, assistant principals, and the teacher leaders) (Hulpia, Devos, Van Keer, 2009). At a previous high school where I worked there were weekly meetings to find out what concerns were facing the staff. The principal addressed those issues and also recognized faculty on outstanding endeavors. There was a sense of teamwork knowing that everyone was there to ensure the students were receiving the best education. It took a lot of dedication and communication from the principal and he showed those qualities along with his appreciation for my hard
