Everyone tends to look back at their lives every know and then. The past can be used a tool, a motivator and a guide to help drive their future. Many people rely on their past to help guide them and use it as a tool to help make decisions. Even though looking at ones past is a giid thing Some people rely too heavily on their past and they get lost in it.
I try not to live in the past, he thought, but who knows, sometimes the past lives in me. (Page 9, paragraph 4). I believe that many people live in the past. Remembering things that they should have done, or things that they now wish they would have done differently. I catch myself doing that a lot these days.
This is because many people tend to always be stuck in the past, always focusing on what could’ve changed to make the outcome better. For example, taking a test; one could always be thinking about how if they chose a different answer, their score could’ve been better.
Ans. Most of the mistakes that I wish to change are the ones where I did not step out of my comfort zone and talk to others around me. If I took those opportunities, those people would most likely be my friends to this day. I would still most likely be a writer. Q4: If you had never played truth or consequences with Kathy Heller and Judy Pierson, would Judy and you have become friends later in life?
If you could go back in the past and change just one thing what would it be? You have the opportunity to travel back to whatever time period you wish and make one major change in history. Many people I’m sure would choose to go back in time and stop Hitler. A noble idea but a somewhat bland one too. Stephen King no doubt would choose to go back and prevent the assassination attempt on JFK.
Regret also changes people’s life. Everybody has done something they regret doing. Maybe they do not know what is it or they do not want to admit it but everybody has at least regretted something once.
Regrets, they always bite us in the butt in the future. We think that they just determine our future, but that’s not always the case. A person’s past does not define the future. No matter what you go through, everyday is a new day and you can overcome the tragedies of the past. With courage, determination, or strength, no matter what your past is, you can excel in your life and become an amazing adult.
What would you if could fix a mistake you made in the past? Would you go out of your to change it, or let the past be the past? In works of literature, sometimes a character has to deal with a problem that can conflict with their responsibilities. A character will make a mistake in the past and work hard to try and fix it later on, but it can interfere with their responsibilities in life at that time. They have to make a decision to either go out of their way and fix that mistake or carry on with their normal life.
In “A Mistake that Should Last a Lifetime,” by Jessanne Collins argues that we should learn to deal with our mistakes, live with regrets, and know we can’t change our permanent situations. The narrator made a decision that made her live with a long regret. She tattooed her left wrist with a phrase that said, “Break to keep fixing.” She made a mistake because she was nervous and told the tattoo artist she was ready when she really wasn’t. Her simple tattoo led to a long time of regret.
Writer André Maurois once said that "A man cannot free himself from the past more easily than he can from his own body. " Our lives are governed by our past. What we once did, what we once accomplished, and what we once could call our own. As we look back at these past memories we realize the impact these events hold in our present lives. The future relationships we’ll build, the life we live in the future, and our happiness are all impacted by the events in the past.
"Forget regret, or life is yours to miss." ~Jonathan Larson. Famous composer, John Larson explains that if you get lost in regret, you will suffer the rest of your life reminiscing on a past action that you will never be able to undo. On the other hand, if you do not become lost in regret, you have the opportunity to do something positive in your life. Similarly, in Chris Cleaves novel, Little Bee, several characters had wished they hadn't done things that they did in the past.
While I have accepted the hardships I have had to go through, I am not proud of how I handled them. When I look back, things do not seem as bad as they were, but in the present moment I could not have imagined them worse. Perhaps the most trouble I have with the past is my problems with trust. I have not yet relearned how to trust and have hope in those I surround myself with, and this negatively impacts my ability to develop as I should. At this point, I am working to create a healthy relationship with my past and repair my future, simultaneously.
there are too many reasons that we wish to change all the choices we have made. i, myself, have done something that i really regret is being unbrave. i will never forgive myself for that choice and will always feel stupid when i think of it. " Unbrave" is when i never say what is on my mind. In school i have trouble communicating with the people around me.
The past has educated us with so many good lessons. The past is the reason we know how to do things and treat people today. If it weren’t for the past we wouldn’t know even half the stuff we know now. We also don’t want to repeat the past because bad things happened. We have already learned from those things and made a change.
If there was any way to turn back time and just re-live the past, I would trade my soul to return to the good old days. Sometimes I wish I could subtract the ten years from my life and go back to being seven. You know, when life wasn’t too hard and gaining knowledge actually seemed interesting. You know why everyone wishes to get back to the past all the time?
