When we think of heroes first ones to come to mind are fictional characters; Superman, Batman, Spider-Man. These characters are great and their producers have made a lot of money off of them, but true heroes impact lives and put others before themselves. They are willing to sacrifice their social life, family time, and even money to make a positive impact on your life and influence you to strive for excellence and reach your desired goal. These are all things my hero, Marquita Adley has done for me. Marquita Adley, nicknamed Coach Q, has been my basketball coach since 6th grade.
Heroism Who is your hero? It may be your dad or, perhaps another family member, one that you have known your whole life as a hero. Maybe it is a fictional character. A person that you don't know or have never seen, but still you think of them as a hero.
In my opinion, Dorothea Dix fits my definition of a hero because she not only did something to improve the life of one person, she improved the lives of thousands, without worrying about the consequences of her actions. That day when she went to teach Sunday school in East Cambridge, she could have done nothing about the terrible conditions that the prisoners had to endure. She could have chosen to ignore them. But instead, she let her courageous and nurturing ways take over, and she campaigned for the rights of those
Brad Ludden is a hero because his mom had breast cancer and since then he was inspired to be a kayaker and help people with cancer have life-changing experiences. With these life changing experiences he would make a change in people with cancer. Instead of being depressed because of their cancer they would change their mindset to enjoy life.
Many Canadian heroes have influenced the world and Canadian history. One of the Canadian heroes is Terry Fox. He was an ordinary person who later became a Canadian national hero. Although Terry Fox had lost his right leg, he ran the marathon of hope across the country to raise one dollar for each Canadian for cancer research . Through the marathon of hope, he displayed hope, determination, and courage to complete his goal regardless of the pain and the weather conditions.
“A true hero isn’t measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart” -Zeus My Michigan hero isn’t famous or perfect. But he has been by my side since the day I was born. Even if you are sick, you will always be there when I have band concerts, softball games, birthday parties, or just needing someone to pick me up from school. Dale Rochefort is my great grandfather. He was born on July 24, 1936 in Garden, Michigan.
A hero could be anyone. Heroes don’t have to shoot lasers or be able to fly. A hero could be someone who simply shows a great act or certain character trait like bravery or courage. Heroes go through a journey containing a call to adventure, a departure and a return to their homeland. A good example of heroism and heroic acts is David from the Chrysalids and Daniel from The Dangerous Days of Daniel X. David and Daniel experienced sacrifice, hardships and bravery through their journeys of becoming a hero.
Joseph Campbell once said, “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.” Many heroes throughout history are just ordinary people who are faced with difficult obstacles in life and through their strength and perseverance succeed. Heroes come in all shapes and sizes, and affect others’ lives differently. Without a history full of heroes, our world would not be the same. For the the 2017 Recognition Award, I nominate Clara Barton.
A person who embodies all the qualities of a hero would be Rosa Parks. She showed courage which led to heroic deeds and became a female role model for all. Rosa Park or “the first lady of civil rights” was an African-American woman who became known as a hero the day of December 1st, 1955 when she refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white man. This started a civil rights movement that would change segregation of black people. Rosa Parks was arrested after she refused to give up her seat, this was all due because of the color of her skin.
But someone who just does it out of their own kindness. My Michigan hero is my sister Nicole because she helps others, she cares a lot about her family, and she works hard. My sister helps others out a lot. She always helps me when i’m sad or scared.
My Michigan hero, Tim Huyge always works hard and does anything to make others happy or is makes sure everyone including him is enjoying life, which inspires me to do the same. Even though he has M.S. he always works hard and looks beyond himself to help others who are having a difficult time. For he is either batman or superman in disguise or even better he is my Michigan hero, and my
Many heros don’t wear capes, metal suits, or exterior underwear. A hero can be defined in many ways, but truly a hero is just someone with special attributes that not many people have. My Michigan hero is my mom’s ex boyfriend Jody, because he taught me to be kind in a special way, he would do anything for me, and my family, and he has a special bond with dogs.
The Mississippi never freezes over. I guess that’s why everybody claimed it to be a miracle. I was already missing the Beautiful City by the time my new leather boots set foot on the frozen river. Months before the journey Momma was already sewing us new clothes and saving her coins to purchase us boots from the tailor. Leaving Nauvoo, was one of the hardest things I’ve done.
Either it be physically or emotionally. The hero in your life may be someone who you love and trust and know will always be there for you in a time of need. A hero supports you, and assures you safety. The American heroes, or our soldiers, are great examples. They fight for not only our freedom, but for freedom and protection for their loved ones.
“If you can tell me who your heroes are, I can tell you how you are going to turn out. It is really important to have the right heroes.” – Warren Buffet. Many people are looking for heroes in wrong places, and misunderstanding the term hero itself. Strength, bravery, courage, and honesty are the things most people think when the name hero pops.
