People should be encouraged to express their own unique qualities because other personalities help you find out things you never knew about your own or help you do things you wouldn’t normally do on your own. P2. We should have a mix of both similar and different
Bookmark my profile and stay tuned for my selfies as I barrel through these transformations and enjoy each event! ALL ABOUT ME AND WHAT MAKES ME UNIQUE I believe myself to be an empath. I am (and I have been) pretty much a loner because of it. I can become easily overwhelmed by the diverse energy and input of too many people.
The diversity that may be found all around the world and in our very community has always fascinated me. I am aware that it is a widely held belief that being a minority is considered a disadvantage in various aspects and I would disagree with this. Diversity and culture is a two-way street- as a community, whether that be society as a whole or simply a freshman class, we have the potential to be able to learn from each other. I believe that my status as an underrepresented minority has shaped me into the person I am today. Despite moving to the United States at a young age and being a first-generation college student , I am grateful for the privilege to be able to further my education at the University of Utah.
There are many problems with this view. An egoist may believe that they are unique, but so does another egoist across the street. An egoist in a different state as the other two believes they are unique as well, but so does an egoist living in a different country. All over the world there are egoists that believe they are special, but they are not. It is impossible for everyone to be unique.
2016 The world’s population is 7 billion people which means they’re also 7 billion different personalities and characteristics walking around. Everyone has something unique about them that makes them stick out from the rest. Many of us growing up hear the sayings “dare to be different," its great to be unique and always remember to be yourself.
As a person goes through life he or she may wonder “Who am I?” and “What is my purpose?” The objective of this paper is to allow me to reflect and critically analyze who I am as a person. In this paper, I will discuss my social location and identity, my life experiences and my privileges and disadvantages.
What makes someone special? What about you is unique? How do you stand out from a crowd? For me, I was adopted from China.
Also, I'm strange. Anyone that knows my personality say I'm an odd duckling. That's better than the ugly duckling at least. I strive to be diverse to other people. I believe that it is important to not be normal or the same as everybody else.
What makes me who I am? I don't like the thought that every detail of my essence and my being was meant to be only because that was the way someone created me; or worse yet, something connected to the timeline of my destiny that someone or perhaps something divine wrote for me. I like to think that every detail of me was slowly molded to make me the person who I am today. And each one of the features that emerged, changed, and finally settled within my personality have a background story. Therefore, if I have a unique personality, is only because I have a great childhood to tell.
My individuality is defined by a dichotomy. I have disunion in my identity; however, the two components in question exist together and even thrive off each other. I am profoundly introverted, yet I find pleasure in servant leadership. I am so introverted, in fact, that I turn crimson when called upon in class, however, I have no problem fully committing myself to the numerous leadership positions I hold. Being introverted does not mean I have self-esteem problems, I am socially awkward, or that I dislike other people, it only means that I draw energy from independence.
Personality vs. Identity The two universal identity categories that I chose to discuss my own cultural expectations are gender and age. Some of the expectations that I have of males are that they are the primary source of financial resources and security for the family unit. Additionally, I see males as playing key roles in providing leadership and discipline as the head of the household. As for females, my belief is they are to be the nurturing figure and source of comfort for the family with the primary role of supporting and raising the children.
I am who I am but who exactly is that? I know who I am through identity. Identity shapes how I act, the choices I make, and how I think. Identity is developed through many influences, some that I can control and I cannot. One of my first influences is my moral values.
Identity is social construct that many have mistaken for something an individual is born with. There are many aspects of identity that one can inherit like genes that can drive a certain type of character and certain aspects of identity a person can adopt and build for themselves. However the most part of one’s identity is consistent of what the person wants and adopts for themselves and what the society/the people around him/her choose to give him/her. Identity is a said to not remain unchanged once established.
The journey I took to inhabit the Queerness of my identities today happened relatively recently, but there are moments from my past that slowly edged me towards who I am today. It all started with thoughts here and there of kissing my male friends, for seemingly no reason, I didn’t feel sexually attracted to them at the time. These thoughts would never crop up with strangers or acquaintances, only with close friends. I ignored these thoughts for the most part, I had no intentions of acting upon them, despite how open my friends were to the ideas of exploring their own identities, I still felt some sort of shame around mine. People bullied me in high school already for being what they defined as less masculine by wearing tight clothes, having
Self-identity is defined as the recognition of one's potential and qualities as an individual, especially in relation to social context. In other words, self-understanding. Finding self-identity is more more difficult for some people than others. In the autobiography Black, White, and Jewish: Autobiography of a Shifting Self by Rebecca Walker, the author reflects on her identity as a mixed raced individual which is illustrated through Walker’s reflections. People define themselves in many different ways.
