For this assignment, I interviewed my mother Elaine Meskouris. Director at Evlavia Doulavarous Preschool in Flushing, NY.

1. Me: So Mrs. Meskouris, why did you become a preschool director? Elaine: I love working with children, I always felt I could make a difference and be able to establish a quality program for preschool children. I also enjoy working with parents. I knew I would be able to help and reassure parents especially when their children may have struggles with learning. I always wanted to be the one to help and direct them to the proper professional whether it is speech pathology, occupational therapy, or playgroup therapy.
2. Me: what was your career path up to this point? Elaine: I worked as an ESL coordinator for ten years in the public school system. I was then offered a position for our church preschool, and have held that position for the past 15 years. …show more content…

Me: can you explain to me how you found this job? Elaine: I attended a church meeting and learned that they were looking for an educator to direct the preschool. I went through the interviewing process and within a few weeks was appointed and resigned from my position with the public schools.
4. Me: what was the interview process like for you? Elaine: At first, I submitted a resume and letters of reference to a group of twelve on the school board, after the board carefully reviewed my resume and others as well; I received a phone call from the president of the school board and was advised that I would be called into the interview. I was interviewed by four people which consisted of a pastor legal adviser and two educators. Me: wow that sounds like a lot of pressure. Elaine: Yes I was very nervous.
