During the past week I had to try out 3 different new coping strategies for stress, the 3 that I chose to try were exercising/ doing yoga, reading a book, and cleaning. Over the past week, I have been a little stressed but it was mainly before my Chemistry Midterm and when i practiced driving. I feel like these were two main moments that made me the most stressed other than everyday things like homework or my job. If I had not done this project I would have only listened to calming music before the stressful events, but instead I tried to working out or doing yoga. I felt like this helped me a lot even though i can find it stressful to plan my workouts in my schedule, so this I made working out more enjoyable and easier for me. also I found …show more content…

I also have a tendency to create to-do lists when I am overwhelmed with school or extracurriculars. These are my most common strategies I use but the one I use most is listening to music as i can do it while multitasking or do it when I am not home. For example, I really enjoy listening to music while doing homework or when I am coming home from a stressful day at school. I find that it helps block out the background noise allowing me to relax or calm down. More so, i find that i can easily use this strategy while also doing things I need to do allowing me to be more proactive. another strategy I use regularly is watching tv or a movie even if it is just on in the background while I clean my room or do things on my checklist. I also enjoy baking food during stressful weeks, like when exam time rolls around I almost always end up baking food to eat at school. The last strategy i use whether i am stressed or not is that I make to-do lists, I feel that i can then properly manage the time I need for each task. Some things that I plan on adopting in my life after this project are trying to do …show more content…

I chose these strategies to tell students about because I found that these are not only easy strategies to adapt into your life but also are easily done without much preparation. this means that if a student all of sudden becomes stressed about something going on in class, they can use these strategies immediately. also I also took into consideration that they need to not attract too much attention as not only are they in class but that could make it worse for some students. More so, I found that some students were already doing some of these things in class like listening to music or drawing in their journal. Then I decided to chose another strategy that they might not think of like ripping paper up into little pieces, because I thought that could be a good strategy that most people don’t think of. Next,I also thought that by talking to the person sitting next to them was a really realistic stress management strategy for kids in highschool, especially if they need to destress right then in class. Lasty I chose the last strategy which was completing some of your work or something you have been putting off because clearly sometimes in class teachers want them to not chat to someone next to them or doodle when they have
