Introduction San Diego de Alcala was the first mission in Alta California that Father Serra and Captain Gaspar de Portola established on July 16, 1769. They built it in San Diego Bay, where the tribe named “Kumeyaay” was settling. The Native Americans became mad after the Spanish missionaries treated the native people badly, so they decided to attack the mission. After the disaster, Father Serra came back from Mission San Carlos to San Diego to see people rebuilding Mission San Diego. Kumeyaay Before the Spanish started settling, a tribe named “Kumeyaay” was living.

If you are feeling a little confused that’s okay, this is judgment free zone. I am twenty three years old and on the verge of graduating this December, And my interpretation of messages changes every day that I mature and grow as a person.
The Bible can mean different things to many different people. It can symbolize hope, forgiveness, and passion. To me, it symbolizes all that and more. To me, the bible symbolizes a new begging, friendship, family, and love. As I have mentioned in earlier post's moving to Columbus has been very hard on me, leaving everything I know, and leaving the most important people in my life, my family.
Celebrating holidays from both countries, each with their own special traditions, I was able to become more appreciative of where my roots lie. From the U.S. national anthem, to the beautiful folklorico dances of Mexico, I am fascinated with the blended culture I
“We carefully count out the money, figuring out the exchange pesos to dollars” (Cantu 8). I can only imagine how tough this life must have been. To have to transverse an international border, which comes with some degree of treachery as noted above, just to go to a family members quinceanera (as the author did) will eventually breed feelings of discontentment. Many Mexicans despised the creation of the border seeing it as
I was contemplating what would be a good topic for my observation and I was heading to Durango, CO when it came to me. The reason I was heading to Durango was to go and get a tattoo and that’s when I decided to observe the shop I was going to. I was familiar with Skin Inc. because I have gotten a tattoo by them before and it was a comfortable environment so it was the perfect place. You could look at a tattoo shop with all of the tools needed to make a sociological observation.
was born in a small town in Texas known as Laredo. It was a poor city and was basically the border town to Mexico, it was always a mess, always hot, and only snowed once in 2002. Even though the city I was born in was harsh place, I had a great family that raised me well and taught me how to be respectful to my elders. Home was always different, every 2 to 3 years we always moved around so I really didn’t have many friends, until I moved to San Antonio is where I found a great home in 2007, the neighborhood was filled with nice people and each house actually had a lawn and not just broken cars or dried dirt in the front porches. The community was fantastic as well, the people and atmosphere we lived in when we moved to San Antonio was so much better than Laredo because people were actually nice to you and everyone didn’t look like they were going to cause trouble.
Religion is defined as the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods; a system of faith and worship (Oxford Dictionary). This definition of religion is true to the “Abrahamic religions”; Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, the three largest religions in the world. These religions share a variety of the same characteristics for example they are all monotheistic, belief in one god. On my next journey of these religious visits I decided to visit the Islamic religion. November 21st, 2017 at 11:00am
This would be my fourth time visiting Mexico. Crossing the border is the most nerve racking thing that you could do and I know from experience how dangerous it can be driving to your destination. It was the December the week before finals and my parents had planned on taking a trip to
October 23, 1947 9:30a.m. in Tucson, there I was just casually walking around, I couldn’t remember why I was there but all I knew at that point was that I was hungry. All I could think was where I was going to eat. So I just kept walking around till I had found something to eat.
Growing up, my family and I lived in Mexico. I lived there for approximately 10 years in a small town of the state of Durango; I remember all the struggles my mom had to make for us to come to the U.S. We used to make frequent trips to the border of Ciudad Juarez to obtain our residency in the U.S., it was a hassle but we finally were residents of the U.S! Back then; I didn’t realize the importance and the sacrifices we made to move to Chicago. I begged my mom not to take me here; I didn’t want to leave my family and friends behind to travel here.
Downtown Durant is a charming place that showcases some of the oldest and newest businesses in town. When I had the chance to walk around, I got to observe how Durant has gradually been building up since its’ beginning in the late 1800s. Durant has accumulated a unique history, which I had a chance to learn firsthand by some local business owners and by observing and doing my own research. My group started our adventure on the east end of Main Street.
