People have moved to Michigan for various reason, but it all comes down to survival. At the time thousands of slaves used the underground railroad, which lays in the south of Michigan, to escape being used and abused. People want to be treated like people, but in the 1800’s African Americans freedom lied within their owner’s hands as if they were property. Henry Bibb wrote to his capture William Gatewood in 1844 from the underground railroad after he escaped the torture.
As LeDuff mentions in chapter one and chapter two, people were killed in the streets of Detroit. LeDuff talks about how Detroit lost the soldier and the priest who were killed in an Indian uprising in 1706 (LeDuff 186). Dr.Schmidt talks about the people that should be burying their loved one and care more about the dead people in Detroit’s streets, because more than 250 people sat and unclaimed the dead people in Detroit, also mention the economy were the problem of increase the amount of dead people (LeDuff 179).
Several individuals from different ethnicities, races, and citizenships, compose a society. The United Sates allow us to have a close interaction with numerous individuals from diverse backgrounds. In my own case I have been able to interact with many incredible individuals from all over the world who come from extremely different backgrounds. I am a proud Mexican who cherishes respect towards diversity. Coming from a very suffered country I am able to understand not only what does it means to feel proud to be a Latino, but also I can feel acquainted with the pain and struggle that our community has to face every day.
There are some people that I can’t imagine living life without. I can’t live life without my friends from school, my blood family, or my dogs. Though I cannot live without any of the entities I just listed, there is someone that I know, this person is special. This person has left a big impact on my life, and his name is Jody. I remember when me, my mom, my sister, and Jody would go to Culvers every week that I was with my mom.
Getting down to Nebraska was harsh and the trail was dusty. The children like me had to take care of the animals. Jim, Antonia and myself became really good friends after living next door to each other for a while and we do everything together. When I work, I help my dad to plant and harvest crops and hunt for food. We planted and harvested corn, potatoes, pumpkin, wheat, peas, carrots and tomatoes.
It’s about six hours since you left for Arizona . The way things have been, I know you wouldn’t have expected me to come to see you off. I was so focused on getting by on my own in the city, I didn’t realize how much I missed being with friends. And it was only today I realized how much I’ve missed you. You were my best friend for as long as I can remember, and it’s been almost two weeks since I last talked to you.
My residence is in Detroit, Michigan. The current mayor of Detroit is Mike Duggan. There are many people apart of the city council, here are their names: James Tate, George Cushingberry Jr., Scott Benson, Andre L. Spivey, Mary Sheffield, Raquel Castaneda-Lopez, Gabe Leland, Janee Ayers, and Brenda Jones. My classmates that live in Michigan all have the same governor, state senator, and state representative. Our governor is Rick Snyder, there are 110 members in the house of representatives, our two state senators are Gary Peters and Debbie Stabenow.
The American experience is not unfamiliar to me, I have been visiting America since I was a child and as a child I always wanted to move to America. My first visit here I fell in love with the culture specifically the freedom of expression. However the opportunity did not emerge for me to move to America legitimately and as promising young child, I did not want to damage my future by moving to a country illegally where I could not live to my full potential. I stayed in Jamaica and I completed my University education as a registered nurse and had become comfortable with my life in Jamaica. I started working the spring of 2013 and upon receival of my first paycheck, I was reminded that this is not the place I wanted to be.
Dear,Evan You should come to Michigan because there are pretty trees,fun snow,and the Great Lakes. There's trees the color of ,green,brown,yellow,red,and yellow. There's the Great Lakes to do many event like boating,jet ski riding,and most of all fishing. The snow is the most fun for sledding ,snowboarding,and snow men.
The guys from Ohio are quite the group. They come up once a year and stay with my Uncle Buzz. He isn’t my real Uncle but is close enough to be one, so I just call him that. John is one of the four guys that come. He is the kind of guy where he needs to be proven wrong before he admits he is.
Several years ago, I found myself riding in the passenger seat of my family’s car, riding west towards Canton, Mississippi. At around four o-clock that morning, my mom had received a phone call from the hospital regarding her father, who had been admitted that morning after accidentally overdosing on his numerous medications. A few minutes later, we were on the road to Mississippi. When we finally arrived in Mississippi, there were several cars in my grandad’s parking lot. My mom got out, and told me to stay in the car.
A friend helped me to seek admission to come to Duquesne. Originally, I came into U S for sabbatical renewal and after the course my congregation permitted me to study if I’ll have admission. Leaving home to a different and more complex culture was very challenging. I miss my biological and religious family a lot.

For the past fifteen years I have lived in the wonderful community of Stafford, Virginia. When I first moved to Stafford there were barely any people that inhabited the area. Most of Stafford was surrounded by the wonders of nature. However, as time moved on, more subdivisions and marketplaces were built as Stafford became consumed by the ideology of urbanization.
Freedom (liberty) is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without resistance. Freedom is America's honor, and honor comes with obligations and we have the obligation to use our freedom wisely. We can accept or reject the obligations, but we must choose well. I'm a patriot for country because of the freedoms that I have. One way we have our freedom is because of the Declaration of Independence and first ten Amendments of the Constitution or The Bill of Rights.
