Education is the cornerstone of successful long-term impact for both students and society. It influences personal interactions with each other and offers a positive foundation which lives should be based. When an individual does not obtain a strong education, their life may be affected in a negative way. An uneducated individual may not be able to support themselves or their families. Individuals that are educated may have a better ability to make sound decisions that may affect society as a whole. This paper will address my personal philosophy and opinions concerning education. Every individual has the ability to learn, however, there are no two students that are exactly alike. Of course, natural intelligence is found in some students and not in others. Some students lack motivation that is sometimes fueled by their home life. If education is encouraged, the motivation to learn may be natural. However, there are times when a student lacks the will to learn at all regardless of their home life. A few of other facets include social class, gender, race, sexual identity and age. Students may live in different parts of town, speak a primary language other than English and have different backgrounds. My perspective of diversity is based mainly on experiences with individuals of a different ethnicity than my own. It is important that I be able to recognize each student as an individual. This can be accomplished by being an active listener and being aware of potential barriers. The barriers may include racial or ethnic discrimination by other classmates, bullying and low self-esteem. As a good teacher, I will be able to connect with the students and will address their needs. The goal I have is to embrace challenges and provide more opportunities to learn and grow. Command to love one another is the desire of Jesus. He does not command that we only love people who think and act the same as I do and I am not commanded to love only the people who look like me.
