2. PERSONAL RESPONSE
The Lutgart sculpture is very meaningful to me as of right now my major is undeclared but, I am planning to be a business major so I am taking a couple classes in Lutgart hall. I see this sculpture every single day of week going to class and multiple times driving by it every day. I think it is one of the most iconic sculptures that Florida Gulf Coast University has. It is a pretty simple sculpture to look at there is not much going on, just two stainless steel blocks coming out of the ground. However, walking up to it is a bit intimidating. You actually have to look up and view this tall sculpture. When I think about things I have to look upwards for I think of authority figures. Because I planning on being a business major a lot of the people I will look up to in the next four years will be in that building.
Another thing that stands out to me is the finish on the stainless steel; it has a rough brush texture to it and I like that because I do not like neat looking things. Every …show more content…

This sculpture is non-objective. The sculpture is placed in an infinity pool with waterfall steps leading to the main entrance of the campus. However, you can view this sculpture from all of its sides. You can get about six feet away from it unless you want to wade through the pool then you can touch it. This sculpture is quite tall standing about twenty feet high. The overall form of the sculpture is a rectangular prism bent to make curves. This sculpture is represented in two freestanding parts. Both made from the same material and they are the same height. The stainless steel has been glossed and brushed to create a texture on the surface. No environmental conditions will affect this piece of work it is made from one hundred percent stainless steel. It might need to get cleaned every once in a while but I don’t believe that anything but a hurricane could destroy this piece of
