Personal Reflection While Attending NCOA ILE

To achieve these goals there must be a starting point. I plan on implementing this in about 6 months (this is just a joke). The starting point for me happened 6 months ago for positive disposition and initiative. I have been called out many times, by my wife, that I have a negative outlook. I must fix this to make any kind of positive impact on the people and work that I am involved with. Of course, she is absolutely right. I have been working towards this goal for the past 6 months. There wasn’t a plan for accountability and that is why I haven’t been making as much progress as I would like. I will create milestones for my goals. I will have an open discussion with my subordinates within 1 week of returning to the work center to specifically explain our roles and the importance of our mission. After a period of a couple of days I will then address the importance of balancing work and our relationships. I will ask for recommendations on how to make this change and I must get buy in from my subordinates so that we can maintain a good relationship. Milestones will be set to properly track the progress of me obtaining my goals. This is a little hard to define because I am changing my attitude not a procedure. I will have a 2 week observation period conducted by my trusted peers. This is to see if I’m on the right track of reaching my goals. The first milestone would be the no more than 2 infractions in a two week period. This will signify that I am properly integrating these attitude adjustments into my everyday life. The goal would be that these thought processes will become second nature and I have adjusted my subconscious thinking. The next milestone would be no more than 12 infractions in a 3 month period.
