I believe in people. It is this belief that drives my courage and confidence in a world of cynicism and doubt. I know that ultimately, humans strive for belonging and community; thus, while loneliness and anger may always be in existence, so will togetherness and bliss. In this small nation of mine, people speak at least two languages and in addition to the English language, I have experienced the beauty of the Malay traditional tales, Chinese dragons, and Indian cuisines through years of golden rich and poor multiracial friends, stories, and cultural events, ranging from the Islamic Eid Al-Fitr to the graceful moves of Bollywood dances.
At the age of ten being raised by minority parents was very difficult for me at the time. At the age of ten I was forced for my English and Spanish vocabulary to be very proficient due to always translating for my parents. At that age learning both languages was annoying, frustrating, and difficult; however that experience shaped me to be a proficient bilingual nurse present and gain benefits by being bilingual. The benefits where the many open job opportunities with the increase pay. This experience also assisted to raise my daughter to speak and write both languages actively although just not the way my parents forced it on me.
What interests you about your selected program of study? Computer science has always been the aspect of study that has grabbed my attention from a young age. CS always created a sense of awe in me because of the fact that individual people, with a firm understanding of CS, could completely manipulate technology into whatever creation they wanted. In the same way an artist can paint on a canvas, computer scientist can create through code and each program carries a sense of the programmer with it. The more you learn about CS the more uses it gains, making it a tool that builds upon itself.
The reason I chose to become a nurse was due to my strong desire to help those in need. The profession of nursing, itself, is guided by human dignity, altruism, trust, and compassion (Shahriari, Mohammadi, Abbaszadeh, & Bahrami, 2013). I realized that the underlying values of nursing are parallel to my own personal philosophies, and therefore played a role in my decision to becoming a nurse. However, the overlap in values was not the only factor in my decision. Four years ago, my mother became pregnant with her third child and I was her support system throughout her entire pregnancy.

"Gaming is a great equalizer, and it's time to break down the barriers of gender bias in the industry. " - Kiki Wolfkill As a Bangladeshi female, I have always been inclined towards the art of gaming, but reconciling my penchant for gaming with my academic obligations has been an arduous challenge. In a society where gaming is frequently viewed as a frivolous activity, particularly for women, I had to contend with gender biases and societal norms in order to pursue my passion. Nevertheless, through determination and diligence, I was able to achieve excellence in both gaming and academics. Since an early age, I have been enamored with the world of video games, and I have been determined to cultivate my skills in this realm.
Being educated in an interactive setting helped me overcome my biggest struggle: anxiety. With the constant fear of being judged, I restricted myself from asking questions and being active in the classroom. Because of this, I spoke with my teacher about a possible solutions. In the end, my teacher suggested writing in a journal. Every night, I wrote down a goal in which I would accomplish the following day in class.
Education is an extremely important aspect of my life. I enjoy learning and becoming more educated and appreciate all subjects at school, whether it be science, math, English, or social studies/history. I may not be the best in all subjects, but I enjoy becoming a well-rounded individual by absorbing what I can from whatever class I take. Throughout high school, I have continually been involved in as many activities as I can.
Upon entering college determining your future career is imperative. It is a struggle trying to understand what career best suits me and my skills. I do not want to have a career where I am unhappy or uninterested in what I do. While reflecting on what career best suits me, I reflected on all of my skills that I could enhance. In high school, I tried to involve myself in different groups, organizations, and classes so I can get a feel for possible fields that I thought about pursuing.
I perceive a godparent as a person in one’s life who is either chosen by the catechumen or by the parents of the catechumen. This person will, upon acceptance, have to fulfill the responsibility of being an active, practicing Catholic who ensures the fulfillment of the Baptismal vows, to assist their godchild in living a Christian life, and, if needed, to carry out the role of a parent when either the parents neglect to do their job or die. In order to become a sponsor, there are mandatory prerequisites to be accomplished which include age, participation, reception of the Sacraments of Initiation, and overall lifestyle. Sponsors shall be chosen if they fit the roles of a trustworthy witness who can help guide one to eternal salvation.
As a little girl my dad would always ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up. The most obvious answer would be a princess that was before I started to like teaching. As of today I would like to become a teacher because I have always had a love for teaching. Not only is being a teacher all about teaching but to help others and motivate them to do better in school and actually enjoy learning. I live in Desert Hot Springs a small town which means climate is either hot or very hot.
As an educator of science, my number one goal is to excite and inspire my students to pursue a career in our field. Relating how the nature of science is integrated into the everyday lives of my students is very important. I encourage my students to understand that science is a continuously evolving process where there is no absolute explanation. Imparting the importance of science to our everyday lives is crucial to excite and interest students into our field.
True happiness comes from helping others. Life tests resilience, commitment and dedication as we strive to reach our goal. One of my goals is helping people as I pursue my aim in life. I strongly believe in the significance of volunteering and helping others. Upon my move to the US, being in an unfamiliar area and culture, I had a hard time figuring out how or where to offer my assistance.
As a fifteen year old, I never thought I would be thinking about college so early, what irony! I stood a little surprised when my teacher gave me a paper which said I earned the opportunity to go to college early. I actually did not know that was possible; I decided to learn a little bit more about the program, Puma College Connection Program. After learning a little more about the program I knew I needed to take advantage of the opportunity. I talked to my parents and they both agreed, so I feel encouraged and hopeful for my future.
Upon hearing the word scholarship, many would think of money given to you by schools or organizations. However, I think of achievement. When scholarships are awarded to students, they are typically in recognition of the student’s achievements. (Typically, scholarships are awarded in recognition of student achievements.) If I were to receive a scholarship for my achievements, I would be honored to be recognized for something special I have done or accomplished.
