I perceive a godparent as a person in one’s life who is either chosen by the catechumen or by the parents of the catechumen. This person will, upon acceptance, have to fulfill the responsibility of being an active, practicing Catholic who ensures the fulfillment of the Baptismal vows, to assist their godchild in living a Christian life, and, if needed, to carry out the role of a parent when either the parents neglect to do their job or die. In order to become a sponsor, there are mandatory prerequisites to be accomplished which include age, participation, reception of the Sacraments of Initiation, and overall lifestyle. However, I am an active, practicing Catholic who is very devout in my faith. Along with that, I have been previously recognized for being an encouraging and inspirational person, both on and off a team. In eighth grade at St. John Vianney, I was awarded the Kloza Athletic Achievement Award and the Marian Award which relate to my spiritual identity. The Kloza Award was voted on by coaches who deemed me to be a leader, to be coachable, and who had a strong Christian attitude to every challenge being faced. Another award was the Marian Award which was voted on by my classmates and teachers who deemed me to fulfill the Ten Evangelical Virtues of Mary in my everyday life. To become an eligible candidate for enlisting as a sponsor, I would have to turn sixteen years old and then become confirmed. Afterwards, I would be fully open to the idea of becoming the sponsor of either a relative or close family friend, because I believe I could positively influence them just as much as they can impact me. As a sponsor, I could help make them feel more at ease talking about difficult issues with me rather than their parents since I could offer a fresh perspective on issues that might be faced. This mutual relationship would gradually strengthen, and I would be capable of fulfilling the aspects needed for a person to
