Mohamed Hilow personal statements From the moment when I was born I been swimming through challenges to what I call a dream life. I had so many memories in life that makes me never settle for less. What me and my families been through always courage me to strict for more in life, to expand not only my knowledge but also, my horizontals. In reflecting back of the challenges I been through in my years, it shows me that I am well on my way of facing any challenges that life throw at me. I am aware of that I am very determined, hard-working, versatile person that is ready for university and world. A variety of factors have caused me feel this way.

Moving here was even harder because when I got here I didn’t know how to speak English and everything was new to me. Adapting to a new culture was hard, at school I struggled a lot, and I couldn’t understand my teacher and my classmate. I got made fun off because of my language barrier that I couldn’t read, write nor speak English. I got bullied so many times that I wanted to give up school but I remember what I been through and with that in mind giving up was not my option. Getting made fun off and bullied in high school motivated me that I focused on my school works, continued to learn more. I devoted my time into studying day and night and seeked a lot of help from my teachers and tutors and graduated from high school with 3.67 GPA and won a few honors awards. I was placed in an environment where there were high expectations for me, compelling me to go beyond what I thought I could do. Challenges and high expectation opened my eyes to the fact that I was just as smart as those who believe that they have a “better education”. The challenges I been through thought me that being in a diverse environment is very important to becoming a complete person. By being around people that are different, instead of those just like us, I opened up to a completely new world.
The goal of two years at Seattle Central Community college is help me get ready for a University, and I believe Seattle Central Community College have a fantastic job helping to get to that
