Character and leadership have always been an important part of who I am and who I strive to be. Consistently throughout my life I have looked for ways that I can step up and be a leader without becoming the center of attention. This task may become difficult when applied to athletics as well as academic. I have endeavored to push myself and encourage others around me to be a good example and do the best we can. Throughout this process of becoming a leader it remains important to me to be positive and respectful person, to build my character and achieve my goals. Becoming and continuing to be a leader in both school and sports will always be one of my highest priorities. When I think of what it is to be a leader I think of a humble and strong person. I believe that I have obtained a confident personality without letting it make me arrogant. I have previously been a captain of my travel team for several years. I attempted to be a focused and hardworking player that lead the team by example and not always words. I tried continuously to build my team up and encourage instead of tearing them down and destroying their self-confidence. Along with soccer I have tried to be a leader in school. Being a respectful and kind person who is encouraging and not negative has always been a part of my personality. My parents have raised me to be courteous and selfless and it will bring me far in life. I appreciate these characteristics in other people that I meet and I am drawn to them, so I continue to strive to become that person. I give people in authority like teachers, coaches, bosses and parents respect whether they deserve it or not.
