Personal Statement: A Career As A Major

College is a challenge when it comes to deciding majors. For a student, there are so many options to choose from. The amount of majors is like an infinite list of choices. The three possible majors I would pursue in college is computer science, health science, and international business. Since I have interest in all these majors, I am determined to choose one as a major and the other as a minor so I can be learn about both majors. In addition to learning, I also hope learning two majors will provide me a back up plan incase I do not like the major I choose.

I would like to pursue a career in health science because I want to aid people who are sick. I also have interest in reading medical articles and watching health related television shows. Health science is the study of techniques and procedures used to aid people that are sick. While studying for this major, the courses consist of science and math courses such as biology, calculus, and physics. It is heavy focused on science courses and human biology. When majoring in this degree, the students are expected to develop excellent problem solving skills, having excellent communication skills, and paying attention to detail. While pursuing this major, students are required to have internships as well as taking classes for the major. Health science is offered at many universities such as University of Arizona, Arizona State University, and University of California Irvine. After completing this major, a future career for a student can result in a pediatrician, pharmacist, or dentist. All the career listed require at least ten years of education or more because it is expected for a student to earn a bachelor, master, and doctor degree. The reason why I would like to major in health science is because I want to become a pediatrician. I considered this as one of my career choices because I enjoy working with children. I discovered my passion for children and people when I began volunteer work at ICAN. Every time I go volunteer, it brightens my day because I am able to cheer up and help children.
