There are about 205,000 people who work as a nurse practitioner in the US. I do not know about you, but I would like to make the number increase up to 205,001. For many young girls, like myself, want to help save lives and we don’t even have to save their life but just help them. This is why a nurse practitioner would be the best job too have. They don’t do major surgeries or anything like that but they do help just enough to keep someone healthy.
1 Gaudet. Session1. Journal. Growing up I always knew I would go to college with the dream that I would be a veterinarian.
My Future as a Nurse Practitioner 1 Take a moment to imagine yourself in a hospital or a clinic. Have you ever wondered who is taking care of almost all of the patients in a medical facility, all at the same time? That person is a nurse practitioner, or an NP. Besides administering medication, treatments, diagnosing patients, and performing small outpatient surgeries, it is an NP’s job to treat all of their patients with love and care. Doing this makes their patients feel like family, so they will trust their NP to properly care for them.
I need to be able to be present in my future children’s lives. Another reason I want to be a physician assistant is that they can switch specialties fairly easily. I have always had an issue with indecisiveness and getting bored easily. This job means I can work in family medicine and then switch to emergency if I feel as though I need a change. The biggest reason I chose this profession is the abundances of 5-year programs for this profession.
Adult nurses care for patients over the age of 18 who are suffering from a variety of health conditions, varying from acute and long-term illnesses and diseases to minor injuries and aliments. They support the patient’s recovery by focusing on the needs of the patient instead of the illness or condition, carrying out care procedures and assessments and using care plans. As well as this , they promote good health and well-being through education and clinics on topics such as quitting smoking, weight loss and diabetes. Nurse’s normally work within a multidisciplinary team but are often the main point of call for patients, and often provide the most continuity of care.
The main reason I chose to study the Diploma of Nursing is because I wanted to upgrade my profession and skills. I work as a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) at an aged care facility, there I interact many Enrolled Nurses and see how different their scope of practice between a PCA and an Enrolled Nurse. Since I am young and working part- time I thought I would be best if I started this course as I could work and give adequate time to studying. One another influence that caused me to choose a career in the health field was my grandmother was a nurse in India. As a child I would always visit her during work and she would take me around the hospital and I can faintly remember the hospital setting and how it is so different now.
Ever since I was a little girl I have always wanted to go into the medical field. I have wanted to be a nurse because I love working with people and helping people out. One thing that has always interested me was medical things, I love going to the doctor's office and also going to the hospital because I love to see what is going on in the building and how the doctors and nurses do their job. When visiting a medical building, whether I'm the person getting the treatment or not, I always ask the employees questions such as, "what is your favorite and least favorite part of the job" and "if you could go back would you change what position you entered in the medical field. " As I got older I thought that working with babies would make being a
Ever since I was a little girl I always wished and pictured myself being a nurse. I used play time to dress up as a nurse and take care of my stuffed animals and dolls, along with using my sisters as my props. I was always had the strongest interest in health care and how it was really possible to have the ability to help or save someone. Kind of like a “superhero”. From there on I loved that feeling I got out of helping someone and making a change, I knew that one day I would be nurse.
Personal Statement My professional goal is to attend college at the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus to take a 4-year degree in Nursing. I chose this career because this is what I always dreamed of to be since I was young. Every time we visited the doctor’s office, I was always amazed of how the nurse is dressed in white and how skillful she was in helping the doctor. Whenever I have a doctor’s appointment, I would observe how the nurse would check my weight and height, my pulse, my blood pressure, and my temperature.
I began my college journey in 1994 as a senior in high school. I became pregnant with twins my first semester. I quickly found juggling school, work and babies extremely difficult. I have spent 22 years working to complete my college degree. Fifteen years ago, I decided I wanted to become a nurse.
During this overall process I learned what I really want to do compard to what the mymajors.com said I should do. It suprised me that the mymajors.com thought I should be a teacher which is probably because i want to work with kids. After high School I would like to persue a degree in nursing at College of the Ozarks. I would like to be a Pediatric Nurse because i want to work with kids and make difference in childrens lives. “Being a Pediatric Nurse you would be wroking with kids and bringing them hope and cheer is something you can acheive in this career(MyMajors.com)”.
The career I chose to pursue is Registered Nurse. The reason why I chose Registered Nurse as my career choice is I love helping people. Making sure they are taken care of in every area from bathing, to cleaning, to hospitality. Registered Nurse is a good choice because you get to work with a variety of patients, and kids in the pediatric department and geriatric. Nurses are also very specialized in neo-natal intensive care.
I informed my guardian counselor about my dream of being a nurse. She informed me of a school program that teaches college classes and gives students the opportunity to volunteer in different medical sites. I was ecstatic to learn about this opportunity, so I work hard to have a good GPA in order for me to get accepted to the class. I got accepted to the class and I started during my junior year. My favorite part of the class is the opportunity it gives us to do activities that help other people and the opportunity to volunteer in the hospitals and for community services.
I started volunteering at the place full of screams, the place that once filled my own nightmares, the doctor's office. One day, while I was volunteering, I witnessed something I had not seen before. A woman came in looking for the nurse. The nurse walked into the room and was greeted with a big hug. “Thank you for taking care of me at the hospital,” she barely uttered, as tears of liquid silver trickled down her cheeks.
Why I Chose Nursing As a young girl, around the age of eight, I decided I wanted to become a singer, however, that was only a dream of mine. As I got older and more mature, I realized all fantasies do not come to life, so I began to venture toward a more reasonable career path. At first, I wanted to become an anesthesiologist, then a nurse anesthetist when I heard they spent less years in school. I would not necessarily say I lowered my standards or decided on a less prestigious program, but as of right now, I wish to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. This decision was solely based on my shadowing experience.
