Growing up as a kid interested in the sciences and gradually transforming into an adult concerned about society, my volition to become a doctor started to take a more definite form with each curve I encountered along my journey. Like every other individual I have gradually matured with time as I explored different personas and interests. Self-reflecting on this journey I have come to decide that I want to devote my life to a career in medicine.
Having to relocate to different countries and cities during the earlier part of my life, I met people representing various cultures, races, and religions. During this time, I started to become interested in social sciences as I began to realize stereotypes that had been created by the media and similar outlets. As I began to grasp societal constructs and how they affected my life and the world in general, I decided to pursue it as an undergraduate degree with the hope of better understanding human communication and behavior. On the contrary to what I was led to expect, the inhabitants of Oakland were a group of people to learn from. In the face of hardships that were oblivious to the majority, they displayed strong character with a refreshing perspective in life that brought me character growth. I also realized in relative to other medical settings I had been in, this clinic was outdated and critically vitalized by willing people.
