The studying at Kaplan Business School with support from various lecturers and fellow pupils helped me to form my path of achievement. I was able to stop and set goals I wish to achieve, I have broken out of auto-pilot and brought forward the life of my conscious creation. I have proactively taken charge and thought about what I want for myself. My performance, ability to overcome challenges and making better decisions come from the coaching plan incorporating GROW model representing G-oal, R-eality, O-ptions and W-ay forward. Implementing GROW model is based on carefully structured questions asked at the right time, which promote my deeper awareness and responsibility. What goal I want to achieve? What would I like to happen with my life after finishing my MBA studies? I have realised that my goals are going to be created twice. First in the mind, then the physical world will follow. Locke & Latham (2013) argue that the goal setting is a mental creation followed by the physical creation when working on my goals and bringing them to life. I set out two goals which are closely linked to each other. My SMART goals have been related to finding a job in leadership consultancy within corporate social responsibility by March 2018 leading towards obtaining a permanent residency and settling in as a valuable member of Australian society by September 2019. These goals have helped me to choose where I want to go in life and where I need to concentrate my efforts. According to Locke & Latham (2006) the specificity of my goals is rooted in exact type of the desired occupation measured by the successful amount of applications resulting in job interviews and job offers. The choice of options is converted into plan of actions. In this step I need to realise how committed I am towards my goals and establish a clear action plan for future steps. The probing for the commitment and its achievement can be done by asking ….... questions. How I will go about it?What I need to do right now? I will need to update and discuss my resume with a counsellor or career professional. Moreover I have to update my online job seeker profiles such as LinkedIn, Seek, Indeed by the end of June 2017 with completing assessment related to my skills, work values, and personality. I will seek opportunities to gain leadership experience by volunteering in the corporate social responsibility field. It is necessary to stay informed and therefore I need to communicate with people in my career network about my job search and online using LinkedIn. I will also pursue informational interviews with people in this career once a month. Moreover I will support my career advancement by writing responses to at least 10 frequently asked interview questions once a week. All the results will be consulted with the career advisor fortnightly. How will I know I am successful? The success will be measured by the amount of invitations for the interviews resulting in a job offer and providing me with the solid base for obtaining permanent residency through a sponsorship.
