My career as a student has been rich in scholarly endeavors and experience in school and out, as well as full of leadership and service practice which has shown me how to exist in the workplace and proved to me that I am capable of assisting others.
Throughout my time at Nicolet, I have discovered not only the effort I am willing to give, but the passion I feel, towards gaining knowledge. As a student here I have countless opportunities to use this passion and participate in activities that benefit my education as well as my plans for the future. Since I have attended Nicolet, I have always dreamed of a career in Global Affairs. I have tactics in managing others and assisting them in staying focused and expressing their ideas in the most powerful way possible. This leadership role has showed me how to effectively teach others, but more importantly I have realized that a strong character is not dictated solely by leading, but by realizing there is always something to learn or gain from those around you. While leading the Poetry Slam I gained that very lesson. A young girl had worked very hard to write a beautiful poem about her mom and was very excited for her to hear it. When the day of the Slam came, I corralled all of the kids backstage. I saw the young girl waiting first in line to present her poem and I walked over and asked her where her mom was in the audience. She replied, “She’s not here yet.” I asked her if she wanted to go later so her mom could hear her poem, but she made the sternest face and said, “I have a job to do. It might not be perfect, but it can still be fun” and she marched on stage to read her poem. Although the girl may
