Having success with a skill or talent takes passion, hard work, and determination. While everyone has a passion and interest for something not everyone is gifted with the ability to perform their talents at the highest level without effort. Those who do have a natural talent for something they are passionate about are blessed. I personally feel like I am gifted in the area I am passionate about which is working with animals. I have had an interest in this area since I was 10 years old. Whenever I found the sport I love, horseback riding, I felt like I had found my calling. I wanted to show an animal that I could keep and continue showing like I did horses, rather than showing a market animal. I did research about what kind of goats can be shown as they are a favorite animal of mine. I decided I wanted to show dairy goats but because it is not a common thing in the area I was the first In my county to raise and show dairy goats.I got my first dairy goat when I was a sophomore in high school. My younger brother also shows dairy goats and we have learned so much by raising dairy goats and competing in shows.Showing goats is very different from showing horses and it does not come as easy to me like horseback riding does, but that is another reason to continue working at it, to challenge myself. I have competed all over Texas and Oklahoma.I have learned a lot in a short amount of time including how to prepare a goat for show, milking, and raising kids. The dairy goat project is a lot of hard work and responsibility, but it has given many opportunities to help others.I have had the opportunity to donate my goat's milk to animals shelters, rescuers and rehab, helping injured or orphaned animals.Raising and showing dairy goats has been an incredible experience and I'm excited to see what the future
