I’ve always enjoyed helping people. It makes me feel good inside to acknowledge when I’m giving someone a hand or I’m assisting them. Helping people is something that I truly desire to do for the rest of my life. That is what initially sparked my interest in becoming a physician. I understand that there are a plethora of other career options that also allow me to do someone a service or to help them out. However, being a doctor, to me, provides the most direct and critical type of help. There is no other profession that can treat cancer. There is no other profession in which a worker can have a patient, who almost lost their life to cancer, tell them “thank you for saving my life.” To me, that is the most rewarding thing that a person can experience. The feeling of gratitude that people hold towards a doctor after being treated by them is indescribable. My father is a physician who works tirelessly each and every day to help people feel better. I can see through the smile on his face every night when he comes home, that he is truly satisfied with what he does. To him, being a doctor is a very rewarding career choice. There are some people in the world that like to give more than they can ever receive. My father is one of them.
