Knowing my interests and skills are essential to my future. It allows me to have a clearer understanding of myself and the possible career paths that are a good fit to my personality and ability. It also allows me to realize my strengths and weaknesses in areas that I may want to develop and improve on. My interests in planning, time, and innovations are indicators of what possible career paths I might enjoy. Having an organized clear structure and constant changes in my future career is an aspect that I should consider to match my interests. My skills in analyzing, researching, and attention to details are also important because they indicate what career path that I might excel at. I believe that my skills and interest matches well with an accounting major. Being detail oriented, analytical, and organized are all characteristics that accountants should have and be interested in. The top three positions that I am considering are audit, tax accounting, and forensic accounting. Not only are these positions popular career paths for accounting graduates, they also align with my skills and interests. Audit involves a third party examination of books and accounts in which attention to details are essential. Tax accounting involves accounting for the purposes of income taxes in which quantitative and analytical skills are essential. Forensic accounting involves actual or anticipated disputes or litigation in which research and adaptation to constant changes are essential. Moreover, the organization and structure that the accounting industry requires relates to what I learned about myself since I prefer work with a sense of organization and structure.
