It buys vacations. It buys a life for you and your family. Others still argue that you can be happy without money. However, if we look at the story of George Wilson in The Great Gatsby, we see how he worked his entire life and was miserable and unable to experience hope or happiness. Additionally, I have lived in both worlds, with and without.
Returning to college has been an exciting and terrifying decision for me. My husband has encouraged me for 1-2 years, but my fear of failure overwhelmed me and kept me from pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree. I wasn’t even sure what I wanted to pursue. I’m now on this journey and ready for whatever it is that God has planned for me. I have worked hard encouraged my three kids as they transitioned their way through elementary school through middle school and on to high school and graduation.
By nature, I am adventurous; I like to understand the world around me. As Benjamin Franklin stated, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” I resonate with this quote because I explore my interests best when I am fully involved in a lesson, experiment, or discussion. The Smeal College-and its student organizations-offers unparalleled business opportunities that can be tailored to fit my specific needs which will allow me to conquer in its entirety my academic and intellectual ventures.

Personal Statement This quote is one I am very fond of and came across while in my undergrad studies. I was taking an interpersonal skills course and that is where I really stated to take on a different perspective of if I am really going to help others I have to have a greater understanding of myself. Looking at how I approached and handled situations was one way I assessed myself and what I could do differently. The course forced me to reflect on my life, and at the moment I felt that for the age I was I was doing everything a young lady should be, attending school to further my education, working part-time to help my parents cover my financial cost, not acting irresponsible, and helping others when I could.
There are many different things that can impact students in their high school years. Whether these things are friends, activities, or the sports they participate in they all impact the student. Many opportunities are presented to students in high school, although not many impacts the student beyond high school, I believe this opportunity will impact me forever. I would love to be a part of the Early College Program this coming spring. I believe the program will do nothing but help me grow and strive to be a better student and continue being involved.
INDENT Essays, essays, essays, we want more. I’m sure I can speak for everyone in my class when I say this--but, we want more! None of us want to have time to eat, sleep, exercise, or work; sadly, I know that the actions I just listed are necessary to live. But, I want to be able to not fully concentrate on anything that I am doing. When I am working, I want to think about essays!
Being halfway through my first semester of college it seems like graduation is so far away, but it is actually closer than anyone thinks. From the second you enter college everyone asks you what you want to do with your degree after you graduate. Trying to figure out what to do after college is always a difficult decision, whether it be to head out into the work force or continue on with our education. As of right now I am stuck on both ideas. I believe I would be happy going out into the workforce and starting my chemistry degree in a lab doing research, but I also think it would be fun to continue my education and go higher with my degree.
It is evident to me that obstacles can be transformed into motivation and perseverance to become something like a turbocharged engine in my life. After going through a horrible divorce, where I lost everything I had and more, I made the decision to return to California where I began many years ago. With no money in my pocket and too few options, I was starting again from zero. This time was different because the "School of Life" had already provided me with a big tool box fully stocked with a diverse set of tools such as: experience, perseverance, optimism, dedication, and self control - all ready to use as daily basic solutions in my daily walk and a life full of challenges.
Attending college wasn’t an obligation of mine but a choice that I took. My reasons are probably just like everyone else’s at my age. People say that money can’t bring happiness because we will have fake friends and people around us. As to author Gretchen Rubin, in her book happier at home states that, “money can help us to stay close to other people, families and friends, which is perhaps the key to
