It is evident to me that obstacles can be transformed into motivation and perseverance to become something like a turbocharged engine in my life. After going through a horrible divorce, where I lost everything I had and more, I made the decision to return to California where I began many years ago. With no money in my pocket and too few options, I was starting again from zero. This time was different because the "School of Life" had already provided me with a big tool box fully stocked with a diverse set of tools such as: experience, perseverance, optimism, dedication, and self control - all ready to use as daily basic solutions in my daily walk and a life full of challenges. Corinthian Colleges clearly emerged as the best choice for me for what I was looking for and could afford. I felt like I was a great match for the automotive classes of the College. After visiting the campus at Long Beach, California, reading the informative pamphlet, and researching the college website, I began dreaming about seeing myself wearing the red uniform of a WyoTech Eagle Tech and holding in my hand the diploma I would earn with honors. When I fully understood what the Auto Technician School of Wyotech at Corinthian Colleges offered, I was confident that what I hoped to gain from the classes would add to my diesel and gasoline engine mechanical experience. In return, I would contribute to the school as a person with leadership qualities who is proactive, always motivated, optimistic, secure, and constantly focused on producing quality results. In only three months time, I achieved a term GPA of 4.00 and a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and became an Eagle Tech. With honor, I wore my new red shirt that showed my advanced tech status. I was so proud of myself, and I felt like nothing and no one could stop my career and focused desire to obtain my diploma, and with it, my diesel and gasoline SAE Certifications. Full of joy and with complete optimism, I accelerated again and began to work intelligently together with the vice-president of WyoTech and the Eagle Tech student president to reduce and reverse the negative consequences caused by my lack of knowledge regarding the financial aspects of my education. Ignorance in this particular area can cause a devastating affect on the quality of education for automotive technicians in the market today. It is common knowledge that without the proper education and training in personal finances, especially as it relates to paying for college or technical tuition, students are forced into faulty loan plans that can devistate their financial lives. The result is either bankruptcy or students having to spend most of their adult lives paying off the balance of their high-interest
