Automotive technicians troubleshoot vehicle systems, test components on vehicles to make sure they work properly and efficiently and examine all “critical and necessary parts''(Stoltz), and their performances. They also “perform basic care and maintenance”(Stoltz) on all types of vehicles, including “oil changes, tire rotations, and repairs on worn or broken parts” (“Automotive Service Technicians and Mechanics: Occupational Outlook Handbook”). “A mechanic doesn’t really need any experience to start out, they just have to be mechanically inclined, but the more education you get the easier it is to get a placement at a shop”(“Graves”).
