For many years I have been told you will never make it to college, but if you do that is a big surprise. My hometown has an innumerable amount of people who do not graduate high school and who do not plan to attend college. There are many dropouts both high school and college dropouts. I do not want to mirror those people. It is a horrifying expectation to live up to.
Jahaziel Orozco Mr. Douglas ERWC-2 13 September, 2017 Personal Statement Throughout my highschool career, there have been moments where I felt proud, but at the same time there have been moments I am ashamed of. Life is a balancing act; school, homework, extracurricular activities, along with spending time with friends and family can be difficult. High school was a time of growth for me, especially going into my junior year where I took harder courses, I worked five to six days a week, I was a part of three clubs, and I was preparing for the multiple standardized tests I would be taking. Being organized within my classes was something that helped me to balance staying on top of all my work in and out of school and spending time with my family and friends. Without this balance in my life I would not be able to work, get all my homework done, and still have time to hang out with my friends at the mall or go to concerts with them. Transitioning from high
My 8th grade social studies teacher always use to say “ A goal without a deadline is just a dream.” With that, he was telling us to prepare to achieve our goals. I sort of carried that with me into highschool life and planning out my future. I have different goals set for the stages of my life, like high school, college, and adult life. Everything you do should push you a little closer to your overall life goals.
If you really knew me, you would know I’m an honest individual, so I’m going to say what’s on my mind and not hold back. The life of a high schooler is rough. Depressing, distressing and straight-up woeful. It is often said the time spent in high school is the greatest time of someone’s life. I’m four years into the high school experience, and I still can’t comprehend that statement considering all the fatigue and stress involved.

The toughest thing was not being able to see my dad very often because of his long nights working.
Can you imagine having the perfect mind for math? A mind that could solve a math problem without writing it down. A mind that wouldn’t forget a math definition while taking a test. Wouldn’t that be marvelous? However, that is not the case with me.

Graduating High School A day I will never forget was the day that I graduated high school. All the emotions were overwhelming and hard to handle sometimes. It was hard to accept that one of the biggest chapters in my life was about to be over and I was about to start an even bigger one.
The transition from Primary school to Post-Primary school is a difficult time for anyone involved. It is one of the most drastic changes that students will ever encounter in the educational career. Personal Narrative Essay Believe it or not, sometimes a gracious action can bring a huge influence on a person. When I read the introduction that instructor Heller wrote, there is a sentence she wrote: “Sometimes the most influential moments in our lives are smaller moments, events that we may not recognize as influential until years after the experience.” For some reason, I related to it strongly. My story is about my high school experience. Also, I will share some significant moments in my life, and how these smaller moments changed my personality.
High school grows you into the person you are. I have great memories, good and bad, some learning experiences and some that I’ll take with me the rest of my life. My high school experience has influenced my development as a person inside and outside of the class by making me more independent, choosing friends wisely and teachers motivating me to attend college and accomplish goals I have set for myself. I have gained my independence slowly throughout high school. The importance of being independent is being secure with who you are and what you believe in.
