Ever since I got an iPod at a really young age, I’ve been so interested in music and I thought it would be cool to create my own. I was originally a finance major but I changed to music industry. I figured I’m on this Earth once, I rather do what I’m passionate about than get an education in a major I don’t give a sh*t about. Who is your inspiration?
Everything I do revolves around my music. I have been around music all my life, whether it was listening to it or playing it. I’m very passionate about music and I love playing an instrument. The instrument
During that time I got involved with research and started working at the childcare center as a counselor. I truly enjoyed working with children helping them to learn new skills, planning different activities, motivating and engaging them. I found that experience incredibly enjoyable and rewarding and decided to further explore the studies of psychology and child development in
My life changed so completely when I discovered writing my own songs and playing guitar, and that can’t necessarily all be taught to you in school because there aren’t enough hours in the
My identity is wrapped up in my love of music because I have been surrounded by it since I was little. When I was a toddler, I would sit for long periods of time and watch videos of kids singing songs. As I grew older I participated in my church's children's choir and even held solos in my elementary school chorus. When I reached middle school I joined my school's middle school chorus in 7th grade as an alto and 8th grade as a soprano. The transition between 8th and 9th grade was important for me because I took up voice lesson in 8th grade and went to my first music camp the summer before 9th grade.
I have always been a particularly musical person. When I was younger, I wanted to become a singer when I grew up, but upon joining the choir in elementary I realized I did not have the talent for singing that I thought I had. Continually singing off key and never sounding as good as my peers did, I decided to confine myself to singing at home where only my family could hear me. Despite this revelation that I was, in fact, a terrible singer, I still wanted to participate in some type of musical performance and decided to join the band in middle school. After trying out various different instruments, I settled on the flute and quickly fell in love.
Throughout my high school career, I was forced into many situations where I was challenged to connect with my peers and serve as a role model for future students. Whether it be my involvement in the school marching band, or helping students in community tutoring sessions, I have always made it my goal to better the people around me through my own efforts. Throughout my high school career, I have put forth my best effort to connect with my peers, transform individuals, and make a difference in my community. Joining the school marching band at the beginning of my freshman year of high school was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
As a person goes through life he or she may wonder “Who am I?” and “What is my purpose?” The objective of this paper is to allow me to reflect and critically analyze who I am as a person. In this paper, I will discuss my social location and identity, my life experiences and my privileges and disadvantages.
After discovering music therapy, I fell in love with the idea of working with children on a one on one basis. I believe my gentle nature has lead me to want to work on a one on one basis, instead of a full classroom. One of my biggest inspirations, for following my dream to become a music therapist was my high school chorus director, Linda Tieman. She brought me to Ohio University, and helped me to further explore music therapy. Mrs. Tieman introduced me to an Ohio University alumni, Jessica Lucas, who graduated with a music therapy degree.
I believe music is a vessel for personal growth and achievement. Through music, students have the ability to develop valuable life skills that are necessary for becoming a member of society. Therefore, it is my job as a music educator to connect the power of music with students. Through varied instruction and a well developed curriculum, students can grow as both a musician and a person. I believe supporting students gives the ability to achieve great things, both inside and outside the musical realm.
Music is my greatest skill. I started when I was four4 years old when my mom signed me up for piano lessons. and apparently I progressed very rapidly. Every year, I would participate in Certificate of Merit where I would be tested in performance and music theory. Through hours of practice and persistencynot giving up, I was able to pass level ten10 in eighth grade, which would qualifiyed me to become a piano teacher if I wanted to.
Whenever life has thrown me curveballs, music has been right there to help put me back on my feet. Unlike some people in my life, music has always been something that has stayed constant. Every time I have been upset or worked up, music is right there to lift my spirits. It was not until my junior year of high school that I realized I wanted to pursue a career in the music industry. This one event made me truly realize how much my world revolves around music.
As a dreamer and queer woman of color, pursuing a career in STEM has been quite challenging. But I have never let anything get in the way of reaching my goals and dreams. I have swam against the current in order to be where I am today, where I have dreamt of being. I am currently a second year student at Trinity Washington University majoring in biochemistry and minoring in mathematics. I am a dedicated student and an analytical and skilled critical thinker who is eager to learn.
At a young age, I constantly wanted to express myself through music. I always found a way to incorporate music into my daily life, whether it be by blasting my favorite music, creating my own funky songs, or even having the opportunity to participate in my elementary school choir. My love for music actually took flight after I had decided to join my elementary school choir, however, in my opinion, it is not the most transformative moment in my life. After elementary
Starting from age of 13, I have been practicing music with well-known masters. As a matter of fact, when I was in high school my focus was more on music and sports rather than on my education. However, I started to like computer programming while I started my associate degree and that was a turning point for me to get motivated to continue my education and earn my bachelor’s and master’s degrees. I have always loved music and that was the reason to relate computer programming and new technologies to music. For instance, the final project of my Associate degree was “Designing a website for teaching music instruments”, and the title of my master’s thesis was “Music E-Learning”.
