I’m most proud of my two terms as ASB Director of Communications, the student spokesperson for the ASB and faculty. The job demands proficiency in graphic design, public speaking, and time management; responsibilities include creating posters, broadcasting PSAs, commentating class competitions, and sending weekly emails to an audience of 1600 students. I’ve led two ASB committees to coordinate our school’s Stanford Blood Drive and FairTrade Initiative. I’m also the go-to guy who answers all students’ general questions. How many times a week does an email from a complete stranger pop up in the inbox?
With professional development workshops, QCPA helps students develop interpersonal and presentation skills that are crucial for future success in every field. I want to be a part of QCPA because I am extremely interested in the performing
As an actress and stagehand for the New York Civic Theatre, I am committed to a career in the entertainment business. Over the past twelve years, I have worked on every aspect of set design and production, mastering the endless technical challenges that live theatre presents. Consequently, I am equally comfortable constructing sets, sewing costumes, stringing lights and running lines with famous actors. Even after all these years, I have not lost my passion for the business. I still get goose bumps on opening night when I watch the combined energy of the production company come together for the first time in front of a live audience.
The first time I went to see a Camelot Musical was a couple of years ago to support my friend who played one of Ursula 's tentacles in the Little mermaid production. That day I was blown away by the performance of the actors, the singing, the set, everything! I was obsessed with that Disney Character for a while after that,I listened to the soundtrack in the morning,in the car, while doing chores. Camelot clearly left an impression on me. Now I am proud to say I am in a Camelot production that is debuting on the 27th!
Standing on the dark stage, I took deep, slow breaths to calm my nerves. My stomach did somersaults and my hands shook. Fidgeting with my pink peasant top and ankle length yellow floral skirt, I made eye contact with my fellow actors. The closed curtain was the only thing separating us from an audience of five hundred people. One would think that after three months of rehearsals I would feel prepared for this, but I didn’t.
The AVID program has had a positive impact in my academics, and in my life by helping me focus, enrich, and solidify my goals. I can say with full confidence that AVID has become an integral part of my High School year that equipped me with the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in college. As an immigrant who came to the United States five years ago and English being my third language, the AVID program challenged me to think critically and strive to learn more. Personality wise, there are major changes that I observed once I joined the program.
I was interested in doing something more artistic than just a research paper. I requested to act as dramaturg for one of the mainstage productions. I have been curious in the art of dramaturgy since it had been discussed that it might be something I would enjoy in theatre. Fortunately, I participated in the devised piece of theatre, Frankenstein: An Act of Creation. Because it is not a traditional piece of theatre, I learned how important communication with the director and actors are when acting as the dramaturg.
Work experience at Oval theatre was a big challenged for me because am not a actor but I managed to do a successful show with my group, which gave a change to show my
Eagerness to learn, attention to details, and willingness to put in required effort and time, all qualities I wish to continue to practice as a student in AP English 12. As a student of organization and willingness to participate in classroom discussions and interactions, I believe those attributes of me as a student set me up for success in this class. My enthusiasm in learning has been a leading factor in my decision to apply for this rigorous course my senior year. While there are other options available this is the course best suited for me due to my attention to details and readiness to dedicate time and effort into this class. As an AP English student I am mainly interested in continuing to practice and develop reading and writing skills
This allowed me to act with people of different ages and experiences; understand the importance of rehearsal and get used to using unfamiliar theatre spaces when
The program of study combines in-depth classroom training with extensive production work. At the conclusion of their training, individuals are prepared to work on a wide range of material and in a variety of venues. Students are required to attend all classes in their curriculum. In addition to courses offered in their department, actors take Survey of Theater and Drama and The Collaborative Process. The first production opportunity comes at the end of the first term with the presentation of collaboratively created projects.
How has your involvement in the AVID program contributed to your success and/or growth at Fremont High School? Being an AVID tutor at Fremont High school has been enriched my life in multiple ways and I will carry the connections I gained being an AVID tutor beyond my high school career. During tutorial, AVID helped me improve my teaching skills by forcing me to critically think and problem solve. Tutorial time pushed me to try to try to teach and make sure those I was helping understood the problems and why and how they solve them a certain way instead of just showing them how to solve the problem. I did this by empathizing with tutees, recognizing I was once in their shoes and figuring out to how to help them by thinking of what would have
There are a lot elements that work together to make any production successful. Some of the necessary parts of a successful production include the director and producer, the actors and their techniques, scenery, lighting, costume design, and much more. Alone, these elements would not be successful, as the life a production comes when all the necessary pieces fit perfectly together. For any given production to have success, it must first have a dedicated and well trained director standing behind it. A director’s main task is to work closely with the actors to ensure they are well rehearsed and the production goes off seamlessly.
Have you ever tried acting? It is a very hard thing to do but I love it. I started acting when I was seven years old. From the on acting became one of my favorite hobbies and a passion of mine.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” The speaker of this quote, Martin Luther King Jr., was an articulate man, whose words have inspired people throughout history. This influential adage portrays that positivity can light up any darkness that is concealed within the mindset of current leaders. In our world today, several controversial ideas circulate people’s minds.
