The infamous answer to the question, “What is your primary goal for going to school?” is “to further my education, get a job, and be successful” such a cliché if I must say myself. My goal attending school is to make my family happy, as well as myself. In high school, I did not apply myself like I should have done because I was not sure if college was in my favor. Also, being the child of a single parent wanting to attend college seemed impossible, especially far from home.
I have several lifetime goals that mean a lot to me. I really hope to accomplish them one day. Since, of course, being currently a senior in Brownsville Early College High School, and also attending the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley. For some students look at college as a dream to attend, but I see it as an accomplishment. All the things my parents and family members will see to me as I was growing up was to prepare and work hard for my education or the degree I want, and I have.
According to the reading "Why Go to College" in my ENF book, students have many reasons for attending college. One reason for learning is to adapt to new situations. College is far more different from high school; consequently, adapting to the college atmosphere often takes more time. Another reason is to learn about different cultures and people through this experience. A third reason is to be able to better deal with advances in knowledge and technology that are changing the world as the world is filled with technology because new things are invented every day.
In the first place, there are many reasons why I would love to attend Spelman College Summer Program, to name a few it would be an honor and a privilege for me and for my family to witness. According to Wikipedia, it states, "Spelman College holds lots of history, and distinction of being American’s first, oldest, private, and liberal arts historically black College for women.” In addition, my father is a carpenter and he always told me that the foundation of a building is the most important part to keep the building strong. In the same fashion, if I were to be approved for the Spelman summer program this will add to my foundation even if it’s only for two weeks.
Also, I want younger children to see me as a great role model so they can attend college as well. Once I graduate, I will be the first to graduate in my family. Majority of my family that attended college end up dropping out in the middle of a semester. In concluding, for anybody that wants to pursue their dreams in life, I want them to see me as a great role model.
Overall, I wish to attend college to better all aspects of my life. I desire to maximize my potential and work ethic to become better. Being a first generation student will not be easy, for I have no one to tell me about experiences. I am very proud and honored to tell people that I am in college.
Setting smaller goals is nice because they are like stepping stones to my bigger goals. The reason I am so motivated to go to college is because I have the opportunity to be the first in my family to attend college. Seeing my parents struggle with money because they can’t get a decent paying job is one of the reasons I desire to go to college. I know by going to college, and doing what I love, I will be able to enjoy what I’m doing while being able to have a improved life than I had experienced.
There are countless reasons why having a college education is so imperative. Being a single mom and role model to my son, the possible opportunities and experiences, and simply the knowledge of having a college education are my top three reasons for continuing my education. Being able to support my son and myself and having a stable career is the long-term goal of my college education. The possible opportunities and experiences that come with having a college education will be my reward for working so hard. Finally, the knowledge I will obtain through my college education is the key to everything in my
As I grew older I knew the actions I had to take to accomplish my goals. Since I started college I have faced many obstacles but that was more of a reason to continue pushing myself and not give up. Many people in my life that I look up to are the reason why am here today accomplishing my career. What led me to college was high school, my mother and my family members; they had amazing advice to share with me.
One of the most difficult tasks to complete is the chore of studying. It takes a lot of motivation and time to read all the material for every class, not to mention learning all that information, sometimes on things you don’t necessarily want to be studying. When was a child, I used to think that I already knew it all. No book or teacher was going to help me learn what I didn’t already know. Unfortunately, I was sadly mistaken.
My desire to attend college is fueled by the hope of change. In my mind, and in my family’s mind also, college will lead to a positive change in a person’s life. Change not only financially, but spiritually and socially. Attending school is one of the most viable ways to understand the world we live in.
Purpose The main purpose in seeking a college degree is because its necessary and i won't to prove to myself that i can do it and be able to soak in a lot of new knowledge while doing it. When i was a child i really didn't have the love and support from my family as other people might have gotten which left me to feel alone and giving up on a lot of things. I would play sports and quit because i had no one to come to watch me play then eventually i quit school because i thought no one cared. It took me to realize that i made a mistake after seeing how things were in the real world so i went back to school and finished 10 years after high school i got my associates degree and now I'm working on my BA degree so that is my purpose of seeking a degree.
It was important for me to continue my education, especially in this field as it has always been a dream of mine. In my family neither of my parents attended college, through the years I have watched them do jobs they hated so me and my siblings could be successful. As I got older my brother attended college, be prospered and graduated in four years. He now has a steady job and
